No lifting friends.
I got a good group of guys i hang out with. about 8 or 9 pretty close friends and about 15 more i hang out with at least once every couple weeks. 1 or 2 of them lift but there the "once a week" kind of guys. they think im obsessed because i go 5 days a week. And they all tell me im "to big" which to me is impossible
but I guess what im trying to get at is... any other guys out there who dont really have that friend who is obsessed about lifting as much as they are?

oh fvck yea, It's called dedication and very few have that.....I'v lost many workout partners when other things in their life became more important and they couldnt arrange the time to lift, im about to pick up an extra 10 hrs a week at work in the next few weeks (new job position) and i will still be making time to lift, work, and see my family....all including an 8:30am-8pm shift.....im in ur boat man, feel the pain

Yea, only a few friends understand. And those don't even live in close proximity to me. It just sucks, it hurts motivation at times. And i love BB benching to failure and well, unless you got a training partner, it ain't happenin.

iv had loads and loads of mates start training with me,then slowly dissapear.
they blame girlfriends,jobs,money,time infact everything.
tried training with a couple of guys at the gym, they are decent size but everything is half arsed,no intensity or routine.and the ones who train intensly train on their own anyway.
so now i just go in, say hello to everyone, put my ipod on,train till i feel battered, sit down, drink a shake and when i feel upto it i drive home.
its not ideal and you dont lift as heavy but at 33 yrs old im in better shape than any of my 'part time training' mates iv seen fall along the way.
they call it obsession.......we call it dedication(advert for animal)

good call. I guess you coudl call it dedication. but if i dont get my ass into the gym 5 days a week. i feel like shit. and i feel like i look like shit. The gym is my place of i dunno relaxing i guess you could call it. even no the gym beats the piss out of me, its the most relaxing for my mind. its just a place i can go and zone out and do my own thing. so mabye in a way its good i dont have a lifting partner. but other times when im putting up weight i havent done before, I wish i had a buddy there to help me push itLast edited by K.Biz; 02-22-2007 at 09:26 AM.

yeah thats so true, but many many people iv seen go to the gym for a year or two and never go back.iv been going on and off for 18 yrs.
sometimes having upto 6months off at a time.
so im not the most dedicated, but saying that iv spent more time training than some people on here have lived.lol.
i know i dont look my age but i put that down to great genetics and my fit but not too obsessed lifestyle.
jesus dont i go on.lol.must be bored.lol

i guess i should say that i hate people who plead that bullshit dedication card. to me bodybuilding dedication is consistently changing your body. too many douche bags on here claim to be so dedicated but they have been 5 feet 150 for 5 years. yes you are dedicated to fitness, but i couldn't lift with you. i progress in my workouts, and my body is constantly changing. i know a word always has multiple meanings, but there have been buddies of mine who lift, and they do it on a routine (3-4 days a week), but they don't get bigger or leaner. sorry for the rant, i have a test today..

i guess its just being dedicated to being better, better than i was yesterday, and better than i'm going to be tomorrow
and i know no one who is as dedicated as i am out of the gym.

seek out others who know more than you do and make new gym friends, and from those friends, you meet more friends..etcetc networking is essential in business and in recreation
