I listen to everything EXCEPT country....can't stand it...but Rap and R n B are my heavy favorites. I hate this new down south rap...it's garbage. I usually listen to stuff like Nas, Jay -Z, Rakim, Notorious B.I.G., Royce Da 5'9''. I'm more of an East Coast/Mid West region of rap. I like any and all R N B music. Rock and metal are a close second genre for me....

Classical organ -- favorite tune: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0gRBCAdC7wI --The Bach fugue in G -- a fun piece from about 1670 AD -- The way this music works, is the first melody line plays, and it repeats while another voice plays the same melody half an octave above, and then a third voice plays the same melody half an octave below, and then the foot pedals play the same melody. So, you get the same melody playing in 4 different pitch ranges, all ingeniously combined, spiced with a jig rhythm, fascinating to watch, listen to, and read the music as it plays . . . lots of music from only 4 voices . . .
Ya, Virgil Fox (the organist) looks gay, but he's one of the greatest musicians of all time. Pretty good stuff . . .
-----------
Big Band music --
Vaughn Monroe -- RCA Victor's #1 selling artist from the 1950's, and the greatest Xmas song ever:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FXrQLjafH_U
Artie Shaw, Begin the Beguine -- great stuff from the 1930's
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iIYev...elated&search=
Fletcher Henderson -- Not many folks know this, but Big Band music is actually "Black" music, in that it got its start among black folks in the USA, and when white musicians started playing it, it took off. Ya, Benny Goodman owes his success to black musicians who wrote lots of the music he played. Same is true of Elvis, but that's another story . . .
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=suctpKTQutU
Anyway, there's lots of good stuff in 1920's jazz . . .
The lovely Miss Paula Green's rendition of "I double dare you" accompanied by the Felix Mendelsohn -- 1938
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yiv2_I52ahI&NR
Billie Holiday, singing one of the first anti-racism songs ever, "Strange Fruit" -- a song done in response to the many lynchings in the deep South . . .
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h4ZyuULy9zs
Guess I like the old stuff . . .Last edited by Tock; 03-19-2007 at 12:53 PM.

One song I really like to "Grasp" while training is aenema by Tool,
The chourus maynard repeats "Learn To Swim" and it talks about all the stupid shyt in the world today, (He refrences LA but it applies everywhere)
Ive written Learn To Swim on workout journals and on my wrists before big workouts as a mantra and visulize pain as the ocean, and I have to swim to surivive..........
I sound like a big nut job but most of us on this board are a bit nutty in someway......

I figured there would be more rock listeners in here then anything else. I like rock too, but I just love "good" rap music....and it's sad that 98% of it is GARBAGE...especially the new shit. I don't even really like "new" rock either that much. I like stuff like Bob Marley and even some Sublime when I'm chillin' out. Disturbed, Metallica, Kid Rock, Tool, Godsmack etc....Most of the time I just throw me in some Nas or OLD Jay Z and I'm good to go....anything except country...it depresses me....
