Landscaping & lifting
Well I am working landscaping right now and I dont see how im going to get all my meals in. Basically I am having a breakfast then just wait for lunch and so on. I cant have breaks every 2-3 hours, all I can do is go drink my water and come back, whats that like 20 seconds. So im thinking about protein bars or protein RTD drinks. I know whole foods is better, but what can I do nothing. I want to clean bulk, how am i ever going to gain with so much calories burning while do hard labor work for like 9 hours a day or whatever. Help me, how do people cycle and do landscaping job? I dont want to waste it!

well im a carpenter and i make it work....i take a lunch box with two made up shakes in there (2 scoops protein with 1/2 cup oats) so i eat breakfast before i leave around 630 then around 930 i'll have my cooler on the job site and just grab the shake stick it in my pouches and drink it while im working no different then someone drinkin a soda/gatorade etc in my oppinion although everyone seems to get pissy about it oh well fvck em then i eat lunch and around 230 3oclock i have my second shake.....it works out ok for me and i'd say carpentry is just as fast paced and labor intensive as landscaping. so might be an option

i have done landscaping for the past 5 summer, i always cut in the summmer thought so it helps. but i mean if you are cutting grass from job to job you got 10 or so mins, but if you doing hardscape are spring clean ups the guys in the crew aren't going to give you shit if you stop for 5 and eat a chicken breast real quick or have a couple bites of cottage cheese. were there is a will there is a way.

I have done all kinds of work and eaten whole foods. Stop being lazy and go buy a cooler bag. Pre cook all your meals the night before and take them in tupperware in a cooler bag. Drinking protein shakes and eating Bars all day is not going to do you any good at all.

^^^ HAHA aint that a bitch!?, i feel the same effin way! Its cool if everyone on the job smokes every hour (litterally), but when i take a same time break to shove a piece of chicken down my throat i'm frowned upon (usually only once, as opposed to multiple smoking breaks for others). Now at my job it's cool tho, i just with my boss when i gotta eat, i say hey i'm gunna take a cigarette break, and i go microwave a chicken breast and eat it in about 3 minutes, he doesnt mind at all.

all i know is that i cant take a break to go eat while others are working. the break is lunch time, i can go get my water and drink it then come back. So basically im going to eat breakfast, then bring protein shakes already made, im sure its good for a few hours or half a day sitting. I cant eat whole foods, only obviously when its lunch time. Doesnt anyone understand?? So obviously RTD drinks are a waste of money and i will make my own.

so are these abb xxl drinks, why is everyone saying so much sugar its bad?? Would you think it would really matter 53g of sugar throughout a half a day? Come on now and it packs 1000 calories in and Im bulking. If I made my own shakes there not going to equal 1000.

THIS is what i do at work..
EAT before WORK.
START WORK
have 1/4 of that drink or a bar
Go to first break. EAT
have and 1/4 of that drink or a bar
Go to Lunch EAT
hae 1/4 of that drink or a bar
GO TO last BREAK
finish off that drink or bar
go home
U're active, u'll burn off that sugar.
The carbs are the second line of defence, and some of that will be used for muscle maintnace.
Third line is the protein, and that should be left over for muscle building.
I RIP OFF THE LABEL OF THAT XXL BOTTLE.. so its just a black bottle.
people actually think I'm drinkin whisky or something in it LOLLast edited by Pooks; 04-06-2007 at 07:52 AM.

I worked at a Lowes that was hugely understaffed so I would never get breaks. If I called to go to the bathroom more often than once every 3 hours or so, they'd get pissy. I'd stay out there on the register and pull out my bag of chicken and eat it while I checked out customers. There was a water jug with a heating thing on it so I used that for my oatmeal. I'd also bring baked sweet potatoes there and just eat them whole lol. Gotta do what u gotta do.
Manager saw me eating once and gave me some shit for it. I was ike "well I dont get breaks so I don't know what you expect me to do"
He shutup real quick...since wut they do is pretty illegal

yeah, Id be lyin if I said i dont have time to fit in my meals. where I work, paid 10 hours regardless a day, then the OT, but I really only work like 5 hours a day. meals fit in easy for me. all I do is eat at work. love bein a supervisor. lol
but there are always ways, brign a pack with you or a thermal lunch box to the job site itself.thats how I did it when I was workin as a drywaller. never near a place to get food, so I had to bring abox. doesnt take long to scarf your grub and get back to work. if you are dedicated to growing, you;ll find a way.

well, I just though if you were to take a small toat or small cooler full of stuff you could say "grab a quick tuna sandwich" or whatever and power scarf while you work. I used to have my cooler with me at all times, full of water and food, every now and again, Id open it up and grab a snack. was quick and easy, especially if you dont have to go back to the truck or back to the lunch room or whatever...

is 2 scoops of ON whey and 1 cup of oats too much for 1 meal? I will probably bring 2 extra shakes along with my whole meal lunch. The shakes will be basically the same, maybe some natty pb in 1 of them.
