Could really use some advice......kind of got screwed on this deal
aright, so back on news years eve, i ordered some car audio equipment from caraudio.com
a 180 dollar amp, and a 150 dollar sub. well, my amp arrived in february, so it has been 2 months since i have had it. I opened it up to take a look at it, but thats it, its been sitting in my room other than that
NOw the goddamn sub, still hasnt even been freaking shipped yet. So i cancled that order. The problem is, now, naturally, the 14 day return policy is over. I contacted them about my situation and desire to return under the 60 day mark, and naturally they said
quote
sorry but we cannot accept a return for a 2 month- old amp. i understand its never been used, but we
have a stict policy of 14 daYS.
Waiting 2 months or more for an item to come in is not a valid reason. end quote
its a bunch of bullshit. I had no way of even testing it out without having my amp. in reality, they dont care, and they have every reason to believe i used it. most people buying an amp, probably have the means to test it, but i didnt it. I am really pissed about the sub, 4.5 months, and it hasnt been shipped yet.
I am pretty much screwed, anyone have any suggestions. Should i just give up and try to sell it on Ebay yet? I havent run my mouth at them or anything like that, so reasoning with them is still an option, probably not a good one.
So anyone have any suggestions about
1. reasoning with them
2. Mean things to email them/bitch them out
3. How much should i start it at on ebay?

If you know any attorneys that would help. Have them write a letter from their law office. Usually gets the ball rolling.

its hasnt been shipped probably bcoz they didnt have it in stock, online stores do that alot, they let ppl buy stuff that they dont have sometimes and just ship it whenever its back on stock, i had a similar problem before but instead of cancelling the order i had them send me something else instead

i dont think so, they have a policy about not returning after 14 days and the sub probably would have been shipped out eventually

thats fvckin ridiculous....you couldnt stop the order cuz it was after 14 days? It should be within 14 days of when you RECEIVE it...that makes NO sense

chest, i dont have the sub, they never shipped it......that i cancled.
however, i have been holding the amp for 2 months, and the return policy is 14 days. Basically, the honest situation is, an honest person with an unused amp is getting screwed, and the business has no reason to believe me which is highly understandable.
on the otherhand, if they truly did believe me, its not like a product sitting on a shelf for 2 months is any different what so ever than me holding it in my room for 2 months

contact trading standards ( assuming that there is a trading standards wherever you live), the office of fair trading should help.
it is reasonable that the items should be considered as a package and that one should need the other to operate. you could argue that there was no point in sending the item without the other and that the sub shouldnt have been listed if there was likely to be such a long wait

so basically all that you said, and even maybe
-the amp never should have been shipped without the sub

donnie, I believe the fair trade applies in my state. Now the question is, lets say these assholes are located in california for instance, I need to find out what laws they answer to. TO the answer to the laws of my state, or the some other law of some other state.....I would be willing to bet that fair trade applies to them as well

even in america, you must have some government run agency designed to aid in consumer protection.
i know that even in the uk if we import from america we are still protected by the european laws.
