Thinking about buying a HD DVD player????

    http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post...a-players.html

Great deal. You also get 5 free DVD's with the purchase of any Toshiba player. I hate the whole bluray/HD battle, but I may jump on this one. Im still convinced HD will come out on top.

    Carlos, whatcha think????????

dude wait just a little bit, it doesnt matter who comes out on top in the end, why not wait untill a brand makes a combined player that way you win regardless? I am overseas and LG already came out with a player that is compatible with both!!

So my advice is wait a little untill there are more dvd titles on HD/BluRay and its more popular and cheaper, plus get a combined player.

As for my personal opinion on which one will come out on top? Well i remember when i walked into a video game store and the geek there was lau***ng there telling me how Sony was crazy inventing PS2 and that Sega greamcast was gonna own it and that Sony should have never gone into video games in the first place!! I keep going back to the store hoping i could find that geek so i could just give hime that look!!
Sony finds a way..they always do!

Yeah but trying to take over an entire industry that hasnt been around that long, I dunno........ I would love one of the dual players, but they are over $1,000 right now. At that price I might as well buy one of each! How much are they over there?

I see what happened. The board removed the link.

Panasonic launches $600 DMP-B D10A Blu-ray player, bundles five films

Not too long after Pioneer went and introduced its second generation Blu-ray player, along comes Panasonic to follow suit, but unlike the **P-LX70, we've got a pricetag as well as a few tempting reasons to pick this one up over the competition. The DMP-**10A packs an audio upgrade that brings 7.1, Dolby True HD, and DTS-HD on board, and it incorporates Panasonic's EZ-Sync system for "one-touch operation" of your home theater. The overall design doesn't deviate too far from that seen in the first iteration, but you will find 1080p upconversion via HDMI, a 14-bit DA converter with 4x oversampling, support for **-J, and compatibility between select HD camcorders via the AVCHD (H.264) codec. Notably, Panasonic is giving users two reasons to seriously considering its new offering, as the fairly reasonable $599.95 pricetag looks even better when you consider the five ** films (Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, Transporter, Fantastic Four, and Crash) you'll be getting right in the box.

5 movies. Thats about $150 for free.
