Xbox 360 vs. PS3 graphics
Looks like PS3 is catching up in graphics and a decent amount of games are coming out soon now. It's about time, anyways, I know we have a lot of gamers in here so here is the article and comparisons for those interested.
http://www.gamespot.com/features/6171831/index.html#
Conclusion
"Our quick seven-game tour has shown that the PlayStation 3's game graphics are getting closer to the Xbox 360's. The Xbox 360 had an edge in texture quality and antialiasing in many of the games, but we didn't see any nasty lighting deficiencies like the ones we found in Fight Night Round 3 in the original comparison feature. Additionally, in what may be a hint of things to come, Bethesda's Oblivion proved that there can be a PS3 game port with better textures than the Xbox 360 version. The PS3's graphics win in Oblivion gives us hope that game developers will be able to produce competitive graphics if given enough time to work with the hardware. We can't wait to see how the games compare this holiday season!"

I've seen nothing come close to XBOX360 graphics yet, some of the FPS games on that system are out of this world.

For all of you waiting for a PS3 price drop... The PS3 is getting a $100 price cut to $499 on July 12th and includes 5 free blu-ray movies with purchase.

07-08-2007, 08:58 PM #28New Version Of PlayStation 3 To Go On Sale In August; Sony Cuts Price On Older Model
Sony Corp. announced a revised PlayStation 3 console Monday with a bigger hard drive for storing downloaded content such as video games and high-definition movies.
The new $599 PS3 increases the system's storage capacity from 60 to 80 gigabytes and also includes a retail copy of the online racing title ``MotorStorm,'' a company spokesman said.
Starting Monday, the current 60 gigabyte model will cost $499 _ a $100 price drop.
The larger capacity machine won't be available in the United States and Canada until August.
It plays into the company's upcoming strategy of eventually offering downloaded high-definition movies, video games, movie trailers and demos, Sony spokesman David Karraker said.
Karraker said further details on high-def movies for download would be released at a later date.
The announcement comes two days before the E3 Media & Business Summit in Santa Monica, Calif., where dozens of industry heavyweights including Sony rivals Microsoft Corp. and Nintendo Co. are expected to show off their latest games and related products.
In April, Microsoft began selling a version of its Xbox 360 with a 120-gigabyte hard drive and a souped up high-definition video connection. Called Xbox 360 Elite, the black-colored system sells for $479.99.
Xbox gamers who already own the $399.99 20-gigabyte model can buy a snap-on 120-gigabyte hard drive for $179.99.
Karraker said Sony would use the E3 show to focus on two areas: ways to increase the number of consumers who own PS3s and other products such as the PlayStation Portable handheld system, and expanding the system's library of available games.
He said Sony would be releasing 100 new video games during the current fiscal year, including 15 titles that are exclusive to the PS3 such as the hack-and-slash action title ``Heavenly Sword.''Muscle Asylum Project Athlete

So is there any plan for the 360 to have a price drop? I'm assuming it will have to at this point since the elite is selling for the same price as the PS3 and with the PS3 having a blu-ray player its obviously a better buy...
I assume there would have to be one by christmas time. My roomate just bought a PS3 and I would seriously consider getting a 360 elite if the price dropped a bit more.
Also, is there any word on whether or not microsoft will be selling a blu-ray player expansion for the console?

If you have the G4 channel they are broadcasting in HD live from E3. They're broadcasting the MS Xbox press conference. It starts at 11:30pm pacific.

i guess microsoft is spending like a billion dollars or something crazy on free repairs..everyone who bought a 1 year warranty is getting it extended for free, up to 3 years..and anyone who ever payed for a repair due to a problem correlating with the 3 flashing red lights, gets thier money back..i thought that was pretty sweet.when the ps3 price drops i might buy one..but i gaurentee it will collect dust beside my 360.
