Yep, I've seen that before. Good stuff. I love neoclassical metal. I hadn't seen the new version. He's gotten a lot better. A couple more years and he might be out-playing Yngwie Malmsteen. He's close to that level now. Some of those scales and arppegios were crazy and really fast. He's still real young too.

That kicks ass. I found a nice torrent of his band Symphony X too.

No one has mentioned Herman Li from Dragon Force...their lyrics are pretty corny but the music is sick...
Check out the solo at about 3:20 into it http://youtube.com/watch?v=JazPSCoUYmE

Typical shredding IMO, nothing special. That shit is dime a dozen.

It doesn't look very typical to me. Your average shredders are a dime a dozen. That Michael Romeo guy was playing some complicated stuff at amazing speed though.

Yea, I agree, 12. He sounds a lot like Malmsteen. I grabbed the Symphony X disco off a torrent site and played bits from a few songs to see what I think. It sounds great so far.
If you like Malmsteen and Romeo, another one to check out is Jason Becker. I love the Perpetual Burn album. It's an absolute classic in neoclassical metal. And he did it at 19! He would have been the undisputed guitar king if he hadn't got ALS when he was 21.
