Laptop, desktop?
Most laptops only have two jacks. One for input, and one for output. First make sure you are atleast hooked up to the input jack, then set the jack to linein and not mic.
If you have a desktop you should have 3 seperate inputs or 6. One of them is specifically for line in.
Finally set your recorder to record from linein.

The Pink is generally for mic in, green is speaker out and blue I believe is line in.
I am not sure, but a good place to start would be to set line in as the recording input in windows and then set it for that in Adobe, you also might need to adjust the levels.

I think u need a mixer...
my turntables.. go thru a mixer, and the mixer has RCA Jacks, but they go into a convertor that makes them the lil jack n plugged into the MIC IN.
I dont hook up my amp when i hook up to the computer..
but it can be done prolly. but you would still need a mixer maybe..

You need to get an USB converter. Goung throgh an 1/8" jack will never work.

OH!..
DOOD..
i remember now..
When u record u have to go to ACCESORIES - VOLUME CONTROL..
hopefully I'm givin these instructions right off the top of my head..
but U put WAVE on MUTE i believe...
U put your instrument into Line-In as someone mentioned earlier, or microphone.
but certain things need to be muted out there, and other volume has to be set up.
