No, Nu-Metal refers to the Metal/rap bands that sound like Limp or Korn

Why do beastie boys get played on Rock stations, and not on Hip Hop stations?

when I would think they'd be considered Hip hop not rock, or nu-metal.

when i think of nu metal i think of bands like slipknot, killswitch engage etc. Nu metal marked a crossing from complex guitar riffs and melody to drop tuned guitars with simplistic barre chords.

Metal is turning around now though, dark tranquility, in flames, darkest hour, amon amarth, soilwork....any swedish melodic death metal band. They are pushing out some of the best metal ever.

How is it commercial? The genre is still basically unknown by almost all modern day audiences

I believe nu-metal to be BS. limp bizkit is a joke, why did I used to listen to them??? Fred durst... hahahahaha. To me metal is metal, from atreyu-white zombie. Another band that they tried saying was "nu-metal" which pissed me off was slipknot, havn't listened to them for a while but they're pretty tight and back in the day they were one of my favorite bands.

Hmm, well if this is the case then I like nu-metal... I always thought it to be the aforementioned trying to mix rap//metal, and by no means was limp bizkit anything ever close to metal... but yeah

speaking of insane metal... How about dragonforce??? There music is soo epic and the singer is awesome, he reminds me of the singer from journey.

Dragonforce really jumped on the scene, they have a huge amount of talent in their musicians. I hear they are a 'power metal' band, which is classified by their symphonic style. either way, they're a fun band

I"ve been hearing that stuff since mid 90s
I forget the name of the couple of swedish metal bands that were around back than, with the chick vocals n stuff.

It makes me think of ace of base doing metal.

Kinda of like put together by some producer, like the backstreet boys were put together.. or Linkin park in some aspects got a ton of help on their first CD from some producers..

    It just my opinion bro.
I dont like Trance music either... when it comes to techno I prefer house music..

things that tend to be melodic, trancey, just do not appeal to me one bit. they tend to be cheesy.

So I'm guessing you don't like bands like cradle of filth, dimmu borgir, and dethklok??? I love how they incorporate different instruments into their music.

I love dethklok, I just wish some of there songs were longer. When we start recording here in a few weeks (hopefully), I prefer to sing in my own voice and not match others, but dethklok is sooo easy to match, can't tell the difference at all. so I'm sure we'll cover some of there songs. Though the thing that sucks is using different vocal techniques, if I do there voice dead on it'll horse my voice up in no time if I keep at it, which I wouldn't mind doing for one song (ie; a cover song). Or else I have to sing it just a tad higher which still sounds pretty much identical but at least this way my voice is left untouched and I can scream like that all day.

it's all about the "above/below the pencil" "the zen of screaming" I can't stop giving this dvd such high praise.

I used to be the same way... Though the music drew me in, and over time, i started to like it. I also now love there voices (appreciate origionality more now for obvious reasons), another reason I'm so into the different bands and how they sound is because they're voices seem unique. I will say what I can't stand though, f'n emo music, shit all sounds the same and it's all trash.

screaming for me is one of the best parts of metal. I love the combination of death metal vocals and clean passages. Dark tranquillity and darkest hour are great examples of this. All that remains does it well too. Bands like opeth and in flames are excellent as well.

In Flames basically created the swedish metal genre. Excellent band, i was amazed to see them in concert and interview them, one of the best moments of my life.
