not very much man. its a combination of things. usually minimum wage + a % of dollar amount of each session you complete with a client + a % of the dollar amount you sell in training packages per month + a percentage of dollar amount of supplements you sell. the percentages usually go up a couple depending on how many national certifications you have. i would say averaging between 14-16 per hour. maybe more if ur a good sales person.

I would think that would be a good thing to get into for a second job.Especially for a third shift guy like me.But no I don't think they make enough to live on for a career.

la fitness doesn't have their own trainers. They use an outside company. It used to be body of change. Not sure if it still is

    wait... $120 an hour = $480/day at 4 hrs... 20 hrs/wk = $2400 X 52 weeks in a year = $124,800 annually....

Actually there are trainers at a different location than me that charge $88 for 1/2 sessions. Our company holds the record for largest day in sales for one trainer over $30,000. largest package for over $21,000 and largest month with over $70,000 in one month all by one trainer. In fact he just had another another $40,000 in sales this month. We have around 500 trainers in our campany and 1 in 8 makes over $70,000 a year. The average trainer makes $35,000 annually.

That would be nice. I do have have one client that owns about 40 oil wells worth 30 million a piece. With the price of oil today I cant imagine a better buis. to be in. I do have another client that was in a horror film that has not been released yet but she's not super wealthy.

hmm ok not following......is the gym you work for losing money on training? cause the only way they can pay you 60 an hour.....or if you include all those benefits like 70 or 80 an hour...is if they charge the customer at least like 100-120 per hour.......and for that price the customers can just go train with someone like jenny lynn who has won the figure olympia

There are basically 6 different levels of trainers depending on expierance. Each level has a different price and and there is the option to do hours or half hour sessions.

level 1 single session rate $52 and hour $25 half hour
    level 2 '' '' '' $62 hour $32 half hour
    level 3 $73 $37
    level 4 $88 hour $47 half hour
level 5 $100 I dont remember half hour prices
levle 6 is $88 for half hour sessions.

We have been rated by IHRSA the number 1 personal training company for the past two years and I am sure we will get it again. It amazing if personal trainer can bring in 15% of the companies income and right now personal trainer bring in around 25% and our goal is 35% . We def. do not lose money from personal training as a company. Remember we are talking about the top personal training company in the usa.

oh yeah... there are only so many jenny lynns. Not only that bodybuilding as personal training is not very practical. We do a ton of corrective exercise, functional training, balance and stability... Most women dont want to be trained by a body builder because they think that they will end up looking like that body builder which is not popular in our culture.

so with you training someone the company is losing money until your training at least a level 4...and probably not making a good profit until level 5....

They bought our 3 largest gyms here in Ontario earlier in the year. All the trainers that were making $20-$28/hr got cut down to $15/hr unless they renewed their clients for I believe at least a half year package then they got $22/hr. It sucked watching all the people I used to work with lose their jobs or be forced to quit.
Their training prices were $80/hr or $50/half-hr.

Even at level one the company makes money. The trainer does not get a commission off the top. Each time the trainer trains the clients they get a percentage of the session. Lowest % is 40% highest is 60% . Its hard to explain even if we were talking in person. And it depends on what good profit is in your mind. You can publickly look up lifetime fitness and find out how much money they make per square foot. Lifetime fitness is one of the best that is traded publickly. Our number are not publicky yet but we make almost twice as much per square foot as the leaders in the industry that are publicly traded.

For example if a trainer sell $18,000 in one month the company is going to make a min of $7200 and possibly $10,800 depending on the trainers payout. I dont think thats bad at all especailly if your gym has 15- 20 trainers.
