Frustrated
Working on 2nd cycle, using personal trainer
Personal Trainer is accomplished winning several shows
since started using personal trainer only gained 1 inch on chest and 1/2 inch on arms
using lighter weights with personal trainer and worried I am wasting my time, rarely does he add heavy weight but is using 4 sets to take me to failure
muscles are not getting sore as much as they used to and I am seriously thinking of going back on my on.
Is it normal to stall out gainning size and also I have added gut weight that is bothering me
weight - 220
height - 5'11"
Chest and Back - 46"
Arms - 16"
Advice anyone?

just curious, yes you are paying someone to assist you with lifting, but would you really "trust" him and let you know what you do outside of the gym?...who knows what sort of contacts he has...granted, he's a trainer but his friends could come from all walks of life....LE and whoever else

Its probably in your diet... post it up in the diet forum for critique.
How long have you been training with him?

Yes he knows exactly what I am taking and as for the diet we have discussed complex carbs and high protien diets. Don't get me wrong, I have the highest respect for this man and would never say or do anything to hurt him, he has proven his way and most here would know him so I hesitate to even mention his acheivements. My concern is he is not putting enough weight on me to make me grow, if he is being careful to drastically, I need to do this myself. I guess my main question is should I be maxing weight in my workouts?

yeah, i'd be pushing myself to a limit, i remember the guys i lifted with overseas wanted me to "not waste that s***" and really got me to go past the threshold i would have stopped at normally
maybe you could try and take a break from him and do things your way and compare the results to the same time you had put in with him

from what it sounds like--he is training you more for endurance(higher reps lighter weights-leanness) than hypertrophy(muscle size & strength)... It all depends on YOUR goals.... I dont write programs for my clients-they write it for me.. its all about your goals..time to switch up "how" you are training.

Some people react better to lighter wieght, some react better to heavier. He might be getting you to try somthing different that worked for him, but your body may be different.

All Great Advice
So you have a better understanding
Trainning Time before trainner - 8 months
Size gain - Basically 40 lbs muscle, went from 170 lbs to 210lbs
Sauce - 1250 - Test
400 - Deca
30 days Anadrol - waste of time
HGH - 5 IU's Daily
Trainning Time with trainner - 3 months
Size Gain - 10 lbs - mostly gut weight - increase diet to 5,000 cals
Sauce - Same
Yes he knows what sauce I am taking - he provides
Main trainning diff is weight for instance before I was flat dumbell flies with 100 lbs he gives me between 60 and 70 lbs higher reps
He is aware my goal is to get to 240lbs and then start cutting
I have complained about the weight diff but he insist on the lighter weight
The reason for my doubt in the trainner is a friend mentioned to me I should be making leaps and bounds in muscle mass with the amount of assistance I have in my body and he was confussed about my lack of gains and made the statement the trainner was trying to spread out the workouts over several months. My body has always been lean and have never had a gut, most of the time a six pack and I am getting to the point I am going to start running to get rid of the gut.
