    Im swearing off military presses!

About a year and a half ago I was doing a plate loaded military press machine. I had 4 plated on each side and did my business, then moved on to the rest of my workout. Well the next day I woke up and my shoulder hurt bad. It ended up being 6 months before I could raise my arm above parallel. Well Friday at the gym I was doing a different plate loaded machine with only 3 plates on each side, and brought the injury back. I woke up friday night in pain. Saturday I could hardly get my shirt on, and today is just as bad. I can hardly lift a gallon of milk to parrellel right now. If you have ever seen my pics, or in my current avie you can see that my right shoulder rolls forward and in. I think that this unnatural movement that my right shoulder goes through puts my self in a position where the shoulder can not handle the heavy weight. I allready have descent size front delts, so I am going to swear off military presses for as long as possible.

yeah i have had shoulder problems in the past. You will never see any movement where i pull/push the bar behind my neck.

Very injury prone exercise. When I wanna do this movement form and volume are the major priorities.

It was not behind the neck, I think the problem is I am to tall for machines, even with the seat down all the way. sO I sometimes end up bringing the weights down past parrellel.

Have you ever tried 1 arm dumbell presses?I find a lot more control doing this standing up holding onto something.

Also for me I get more overall development with side laterals, raises with alot of volume,I can't affod to get injured again and this is the only way for me to train consistantly and not risk injury.

I find that to be a very sensitive movement to execute. I read somewhere to stand when doing them with a bar lifted from a squat rack, keep weight in front, and don't raise all the way up and don't lower too far down, while doing the "mind/muscle" thing to isolate the delts.

I tell ya, since I've been doing them that way I have'nt had problems. But then again I don't use as many plates as you did. Peace...
