You ever wonder
Do you ever wonder about some people who train? I do.
Like the other day was at the gym and while on my way out I stopped to ask a guy what he was drinking.
This guy was about 155lbs MAX. At the moment Im 185 and that is about my untrained natural weight. normally im bordering on the 210 mark but have been training constant since i was 13 so i know the score, ive fiddled round wiht the sauce and my diet so i know pretty well how i work. ive been 225lbs at 15% and ive been 173lbs at 10% all in that order
I only asked him what his drink was to break the ice and to hopefully sell some supplements that i stock (who wouldnt), im not interested in making small talk for finding new friends.
Yeah so he proceeded to tell me that its a Maximuscle sup. (typical the only thing I don't supply)
So i asked him what he thought etc, as if i was interested in getting some (as if).
He then went on to tell me that a friend had given it to him, he didnt like it too much so he cracks a egg white in to it to help with the flavour etc.
He then asked about my training, to which i added i haven't done much in the last 3 months.
He must have thought that was an open invitation to give me some of his advise about bulking up (maybe i should'nt have said im trying to get back up to weight).
He then when on to tell me that its real good stuff and if i want to put on some weight n get big then that is the stuff for me (his sales pitch was not at all convincing).
All im wondering is, why do some people feel compelled to advise you on something they know nothing about? If i bumped in to a guy who was lets say 230lbs and toned i don't think id offer any advise as they are obviously doing something right.

I here you. This guy at the gym who I hate saw me at a steak house the other night. The next day at the gym he tells me he saw me there, then proceeds to tell me that he ate a 1pound steak, three racks of ribs, and 2 baked potatoas. Im thinking to my self b.s.. Then he has the nerve to tell me if I want to get bigger I need to eat as much as him. This guy is like 6' and 240, maybe 20% bf. I am 6'2" 265lbs and 15%bf, I just looked at him and said thanks for the advice, but does it look like im F**KING confused on how to get big!

Well obviously you know that he doesnt know what he's talking about from what you have learned through your trial and errors. But I don't think that someone needs to be in good shape to give good advice about training.
I agree though that people talking like they know everything about a subject and are completely wrong does annoy me.

The way this guy said it though was as if he was enlightening me a a little secret that I did not know. This is the same guy that has not done a full rep in his life. He spent the other day putting 22 plates on the leg sled, then asks if I will spot him. I told him im not going to if he is doing half reps. He promised me he wouldnt, the proceeded to do 2 reps 1/4 motion, yelling at the top of his lungs. The other professional power lifter that was spotting him with me chewed his ass out for wasting our time.

I never talk to anyone at the gym.
Yesterday there were 2 Poles there both were a good 6'1 and 275+, Obviously on the Squirty McGuirty, so i thought NOW THEN, how much could i make off those guys???
I wasn't going to talk to them, Im doing my thing and they are doing theirs, if I get the chance after yeah but in the gym its just me my iPod and my routine and perhaps a bit of arse on the runner during a cool down.
The guy on sunday tho just made me laugh, ill offer my advise to anyone but i only talk bout what ive got experience in. some people are funny.

oh man I hate that shit... or people doing squats where they move down 3 inches... and YELL EACH REP. Man, they get a KILLER knee workout!!! And they're the dudes that are like "I squatted 500 lbs today" and the person they're talking to is like "Really? I didn't even know you worked out... hmm.." lol
Or the dudes that get on the calf raise machine and use their quads to raise the weight... great, way to NOT work the muscle you're trying to idiot. I could go on for hours about retards at the gym.
I think there's at least 10 different ways to do curls wrong... and I've witnessed them all.Last edited by AandF6969; 11-21-2007 at 01:32 PM.
