How is there any fundamental difference between employees of for-profit companies that happen to be in the sports industry and employees at companies that are in other major businesses? Should the SEC not investigate employees they suspect of insider trading? Should the IRS not investigate embezzlement? Should the FTC not investigate collusion?

I can not stand all of this BS about the Mitchell report and can't take another minute listening to a reporter talk about something they clearly know nothing about.

so when u say collusion you mean what the baseball owners tried to do in the 1980's by restricting player salaries? what does embezzelment (stealing from employers) have anything to do with baseball? These players were paid multimillions to produce for the team, and well- they earned their money- so who did they steal money from? if u try and tell me "Us- the fans, because we went to the games believing what they were doing was legit"- why do we go to games? do we go to games hoping that we watch a 1-0 -20 inning game? No- we go for a 8-0 blowout with our pitcher throwing a no-hitter and our team to hit homeruns. That's what they produced for us- THEY ENTERTAINED us. We go to magic shows (some believing that this is happenign) but the majority knows this is fake, but we still pay the money, and we don't feel cheated.....i don't feel cheated- does anyone else feel they've been cheated. If anyones been "cheated" its been the opposing ball clubs. I wonder what would have happened if Mark Prior or Kerry Wood would have tried HGH to "rehabilitate" like andy pettite. The only point i was making was that a senate majority leader doesn't need to come out slandering people's names when he really provided no solid evidence OTHER than hearsay. He couldn't take this to court and have the judge not throw it out. Thats wrong. A lot more wrong than these men taking steroids . And remember INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY. these men have already been found guilty! Let's take an unobjective look at roger clemens. What if he really did turn out to be innocent, and this whole time, this senate majority leader has throwing his name out there saying he took steroids or w/e else, RUINING everything he's worked so hard for since he was a kid in the backyard playing catch with his father- ITS WRONG. these other guys have come out and started admitting to taking shit, but lets say roger clemens really didn't do it- are any of us really going to believe him when his "cohorts" have been admitting to it. He shouldn't have to prove his innocence. We should have to prove his guilt- which we can't do.

    Quality,

Insider trading, embezzlement and collusion are examples of crimes that occur every day across every industry. Government agencies investigate these crimes to ensure the most level playing field possible.

The problem is simple: players that are more successful earn better salaries, teams that are more successful sell more merchandise and command a higher price for everything from tickets to television. The use of banned performance enhancers obviously skews the fairness of the business, which is why someone needed to step in.

I'm not in any way defending the way the process has been carried out, only that it is justified and needed to be done. If people are breaking rules and gaining an unfair advantage, they deserve to be punished.

valid arguement, i see what you're saying- just the point of throwing names out there from a senate majority or minority or w/e i can't even remember right now- is wrong lol.....Its hearsay- its bull shit. Roger Clemen's will never be able to clear his name- its now impossible- what if he were innocent?........................pathetic i ask that question....should be: "what if he were guilty?"
