Army Handing Out Ranks?
Okay my friend who is probably almost 21 years old recently got promoted to Sergeant in the Army. He hung out in our group in highschool and no one really liked him that much but on to the point. He joined right out of highschool and has been in a little under 3 years and he's being promoted to Sergeant? When I was in the DEP for the Marines a female had made Sergeant in 4 years and they were making a big deal about it, but less then 3? That just seems absurd. I don't doubt that he's a hard worker but give me a break. I always thought of Sergeant as one of the higher up NCO ranks that took quite some time to achieve... I mean, for you Army guys, is this a regular thing?

It all depends on the MOS also. Some MOS's in the Marine corps take around 8 - 10 years to pin SSgt (E6), doing good. While others MOS's I've heard 4year SSgt's and that's not too uncommon.

The military is really not a bad deal anymore.
My brother is a year younger than me and was a E6 after 3 years as well. He reinlisted then and is currently training to instruct boot camp and attends college. He gets free college, makes decent money and they pay him really well to go to a warm state and grapple and work out. They pay for his hotel accomidations, food, medical, milage everything and put a good chunk of change for somthing I pay money to do.
They have to hand out good money, and promote soliders fast to keep people joining I guess though.
