These worms apparently infest insects, grow inside them, and then they mind-control the host. That's fvcked up...

Here's another, check this one out. Apparently these worms mind-control the host to get the host to commit suicide in water by drowning and then the worm comes out in the water when the host is dead. Here's a clip of the whole process happening to a cricket:

Actually that's true only if you take the statistics and even it out. That doesn't necessarily mean you or I have it.

If one has worm infestations in their stomach or in their intestinal tract, you'd have some health issues popping up.

thats only true for those populations that dont have a good source of drinking water and access to adequate medical care. In the US parasitic worm infections are relatively rare.
