From small towns where people farmed for a living and one person was the town doctor, everyone said hello to one another and helped eachother out. Now we throw other humans from their wheelchair because we wanna feel powerful.

Honestly, IM not saying I would wanna live in the past 200 years ago but I truly do feel sick about how petty and disgusting we have become as a species. I mean there are thousands of examples. People SHOOTING and killing eachother because they want the $5 outta their pocket.

The ironic thing is that we all recognize it. I mean in countless movies we portray the future as a horrible place because of what we are doing to the planet, hell even in transformers the robots say we are such a young race who just kill eachother etc. We can foresee it all and even play it out in movies but arent willing to change it.

(AP) A sheriff's deputy who was videotaped dumping a paralyzed man from a wheelchair onto a jailhouse floor has been charged with abuse of a disabled person, a sheriff's official said.

Surveillance footage from Jan. 29 shows Hillsborough County deputy Charlette Marshall-Jones, 44, dumping Brian Sterner out of his wheelchair and searching him on the floor after he was brought in on a warrant after a traffic violation.

Sterner, 32, said when he was taken into a booking room and told to stand up, Jones grew agitated when he told her that he could not.

Marshall-Jones was suspended without pay, and three other deputies were placed on administrative leave pending an investigation.

Marshall-Jones was charged Friday with abuse of a disabled person, a third-degree felony, said Hillsborough County Sheriff David Gee.

If convicted, she could be sent to prison for five years.

Gee said Marshall-Jones was aware of the warrant for her arrest, but that he didn't know when she might turn herself in.

Marshall-Jones could not be reached by phone for comment Friday night. A telephone number listed in her name has been disconnected.

Sterner, who can drive a car but has not been able to walk since a 1994 wrestling accident, was arrested at his Riverview home and taken to the Orient Road Jail on a charge of fleeing and attempting to elude a police officer, according to records. He had called for charges to be filed against Marshall-Jones.

Yea I saw this posted on PrisonPlanet a few days ago...In this case I'm glad the appropriate measures have been taken. The system seems to be working out for the victim in this instance. I would not fault the entire Sheriffs department for what one rogue employee did. The other 3 involved are negligent for ignoring the incident and failing to file reports, as two of them if I recall correctly were supervisors. It's an unfortunate incident.

What worries me is the countless incidents which may be similar in nature as far as their disregard for other human life, which are not videotaped and not recorded in prisons. There seems to be a prevailing attitude that prisoners are lower life forms, and in some cases that may be true. However, this person was being booked in a county jail for a crime he had not yet been convicted of. We must remember, innocent until proven guilty, and I believe the standard of respecting a persons rights should be somewhat in the situations where you are handling prisoners awaiting trial.

Well to be honest Murilo...I'd much rather see her get a stiff sentence than the 2 border patrol guards currently serving 10 year sentences for shooting a drug trafficking illegal alien attemping to cross the border from Mexico, with 660 pounds of Marijuana. And our President wont pardon them...
