Bikes are like shoes. Ya gotta find the one that "fits" you.
I had one that I took to 115 mph, it was ready to go a lot faster, but since I couldn't steer the damm thing at that speed, I thought it would be best to slow down. Not much point to going any faster, IMHO . . .
If you're gonna ride for longer than an hour, regardless of how "cool" it is, you'll want a bike that's comfortable to ride. If you're into S&M biking (Standing & Modeling), well, yes, that could be some exotic whatever. Whatever you get, look for something for which you can get parts and service.
And if you don't have a motorcycle license, you'll want to take the Motorcycle Safety Rider's Course. Any local HD or Honda dealer can tell you when and where the classes are conducted. The class takes one Friday night, one Saturday, and half of Sunday, and will give you the equilivant of 2 years of riding experience, and will most likely save your neck.
You'll also want to Google for the "Hurt Report" and see what they have to say about motorcycle safety. Seriously, you need to read this report.

ohhhhhhhhh your actually looking to buy something.....if your lookin at choppers your best bet is to find local shops that built their own custom bike and realized they're losing money and need to sell it fast you can find damn good deals with these guys that dont realize the costs of building a bike
if looking for sport bikes thennnnnnnnn im partial to yamahas but since you say your lookin to spend 20g's i dont think ur lookin at those

Here, got more info on the Dodge Tomahawk:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zINujts5oZM
article: http://www.allpar.com/cars/concepts/tomahawk.html
"The Tomahawk is a Viper V-10 based motorcycle, a 500 horsepower engine with four wheels beneath it. The engine breathes through twin throttle bodies mounted right up front. (That's what the two round things above the front tires are)."
"The Dodge Tomahawk can reach 60 miles an hour in about 2.5 seconds, and has a theoretical top speed of nearly 400 mph. Each pair of wheels is separated by a few inches and each wheel has an independent suspension. Bernhard said four wheels were necessary to handle the power from the engine."

You are best going with Jap.
Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha or Kawazaki.
Personnally id say got for a Suzuki GXSR. If its your first one id say get a 400, learn to get your knee down and how to rev out of the corners, then up it to a 600, yam R6 for instance,
Depending on what you want it for you dont need much more than a 600 or 750.
Get a decent rider with a 750 on a bendy road and a bigger faster bike wont touch them.
If you want to go fast in a straight line yeah you wont get much more faster than on a busa, presonnaly riders who only open it up in a straight line are show ponies.
Ducatis are ok, but they arent Jap.

You guys do realize no magazine would ever test the dodge v10 because it's inherently unstable over 30 mph right?
I know a few people with Duc's, they can get expensive to keep on the road due to desmosplodic valves, but it's a sweet ride. I ride an aprilia, it gets a lot of looks. Depends on what you want the bike to do.

also, with these bikes, is there just one model and thats it. Or are there upgrades and such? If so, like what?

Upgrades up the wazoo, Headers and Pipes, Power commander, Stiffer front springs, steel-braided brake lines, Upgraded rear shock, New tires as stock tires usually suck, Cosmetic upgrades so many too list I wouldn't know where to start. I like to keep my paint stock as it make resale always easier.
Good luck,
CR
If you are considering a twin like the RC51, check out older Suzuki's: TL Series.
Where do you live? What kind of riding would you be donig?

Bummer! No twisties? Living in Nor-Cal affords you the ability to ride on mountain roads anytime you want.
I would allow and extra few thousand for upgrades and such.
Make sure you get great insurance, because you're going to need it. Your bike falls over in a parking lot, that could cost upwards of a thousand dollars to fix, or maybe less.

What is the fastest/most powerful bike you have spent much time riding?
-

a dirtbike years ago. couldnt even tell you the name.
another thing is, my buddy said, start off with a crappy bike first. But I kinda see it as going 60mph is going 60mph regardless if in yr in a viper or an accord. its not like as soon as i get one, if i do, im gonna go 200mph right off the bat. lol ill be good to hit 70, for awhile at least anyway

Depends on what you're looking for. Want something that has some nice top speed? or somethign that will look other bikes look stupid around the track and corners?
I don't know much about the top speed bikes, but the Triumph Daytona 675 is the best for the track and corner bike.

agreed guarantee i can outride most r1s on my r6 on the back roads, everyone goes out and buys the biggest/baddest fastest bikes thats stupid buy something small and learn how to ride it, i've seen guys that swear a 600cc bike cant wheelie lol and i can pull em up in 4th! all technique and skill screw the liter bikes 600's are plenty i've only seen a few people i might consider able to ride a 600 to its potential on the streets and one of them is an ama superbike professional

I remember learning how to ride on the first bike I bought a 1984 Honda Interceptor 500. I had a couple of accidents on it and kept it for a couple of years, then upgraded it to a 600cc machine, another Honda. Eventually I got proficient enough in riding and riding experience that I graduated into a Honda VTR1000 Superhawk. Now I'm motorcycleless and constantly looking for a new one but I'll remember all the fun times I had on two wheels.
Peace,
CR

As far as the coolest bike, I am partial to the Harley V-Rod... give it a nice fat rear tire... mmm...
But for your first bike I would recommend nothing higher than 500cc. That should last you several years and is better for learning on. You don't want something too heavy or expensive for your first bike.
Ride safe!

Honda has the fastest out of the new line of 08's. 1000cc engine size.
