Harley 1200N, what do you think?
Thinking about getting a nightster. This guys is pretty sick, it looks nasty with apes on it.

lovely looking bike. I like the minimalist typr design. reminds me a bit of an exile cycles custom build. I would make some small mods. Smaller seat, fatter wheels and some decent spray job but thats about it.

do it, just do it.... you won't regret it. Harley did a good job on those sporties... side mount plates, two tone motor like the ol shovel.. yes those are a nice starter and priced right...
imo, the apes are a must on that bike..

Dont bother...
You'll ride it around and notice that only chicks ride sportsters. Then you'll see a tiny girl cruise past you on a deuce and you'll really feel like a dork. You'll do what I did and trade it in for a fat boy after a few months. Trust me, it happens all the time. Ask any dealer, they're thrilled to sell you a sportster, because they know you'll be back for a real bike and they'll own you on a trade. Save your self some embarrassment and get a man's bike. There are a lot of cheap used bikes out there, esp. this time of year.

Yeah but a fat boy is almost twice as much as a sportster. And most used bikes are already customized so you gotta pay extra for parts and labor I wouldnt even want. Im already paying about 600 a month for a car I dont even drive, so I cant really afford much more. Maybe I should wait a few months til Im not paying on that car anymore.....

nah, don't wait... I say buy it if it makes you happy and who cares what anyone else thinks...besides the new sporties look a lot different than the old 883.. that looked pretty small...
That 1200 can get hopped up a lot faster then the 1450's too... if you pay 10 grand for a gsxr it will be worth 1,000 in a couple of years when your ready to upgrade. at least the sporty will have some value left...
with that being said; if you can wait and buy a big bike in a few months that would obviously be the smarter choice... I know dudes that keep waiting and waiting for the perfect moment and it never comes... that is why I said "just do it".

Welcome to your new addiction. It's a fun one, and expensive. I've owned lots of motorcycles, street and dirt, and the only thing I can tell you is not to listen to anyone and get the bike that you REALLY want. Otherwise you will never be happy.

Bay Area.
I've had a sporty, Have ridden several other makes of harley. Just not my style of riding. I prefer the performance side of riding right now. Riding a harley is boring for me. The closest I would get to a harley is the new 2008 Buell that just came out. It is geared for sport riding but still has that great V-twin sound and torque.
Currently a honda 600 rr for the track only
An R1 for a daily driver
an assortment of dirt bikes as well. 2 strokes and 4 strokes.
Point is, get the bike that fits you.
