    Any web designers here???

I have been seriously thinking about going to back to school for web design/programming. It is just a certificate, not a degree, and they help you find a job when you are done. You can take most of the courses online so I will probably opt for that. I would just like to know the pro's and con's of this line of work. I know these guys aren't getting rich but what is an average income for this kind of job?

One more thing, there seems to be two sides to this kind of work. One side being the creative/design aspect and the other side being the more technical/programming side of it. Does any one if this is true?

Im a software developer, first thing i would do is an assesment in order to see if you have what it takes, you have to be both creative and analytical and pretty much a perfectionist. your right in a way where you say there seems to be 2 parts, ie. programming/web design.... but remember that these days most systems used by the big corps are web based. meaning that they are just like a big website with a huge data base behind it. So what im saying is... i studied programming (the stuff behind the scenes) but i still end up doing the frontend at the end of the day (the screens, buttons, pictures and so on).

So its basically split into these 3 parts....
    frontend (web page)
middle layer (java or C# or others)
    backend (database and so on)

So thats why i said you should do an assesment to see what it is you can do best, but bear in mind, that there is actually not much difference between them. Code is Code. And to be honest you probably will end up doing all three
