Herpies question... Serious..
I have a serious question about herpies and the different types.. I was either born or expose to type 1 herpies as a little boy. I would and still do get coldsores on my lip from time to time ( about once a year).. Now I have a question... I know type 1 is very common and lots of people have it.. But someone told me that if you have type 1 herpies, you can not ever get type 2 herpies... Is this true, has anyone else heard of this.. I heard it from a very smart friend of mine who is infact a Dr..
So according to my friend, I can sleep with girls with type 2 herps and never get it down there...

Maybe it's just me, but any diseases I contract I want to be able to spell properly. Herpes ( I had to.)
Seriously though, about 2 minutes of research on google answered the question you had. You can in fact have both forms. Having type 1 can lower your chance of getting type 2, but you can still in fact contract type 2 still.

There's the article I read it from. Enjoy!

no the thing is if you have type one on your mouth its basically impossible to get type one down there.. I think that's where the confusion comes from.. so if a girl has type 1 on her mouth and u have type 1 on your mouth it doesnt matter if she sucks your dick it's all good...

There is some practicle truth to the statement "does having type 1 make me less likely to get type 2"
If you have type 1, i imagine your cold sores make it less likely to have a chance to sleep with a girl in the first place......wait.....maybe im looking at this the wrong way....maybe what really happens is that it increases your chances. That is, a girl who has type 2 herpes, sees that you have type 1. This makes her feel better about herself and therefore, you actually have increased your chance of sleeping with her.
hmmmm....i say you should do an experiment and find out for all of us.

This is what my doc told me, I thought I had Herpes but it turned out to be something totally different (THANK GOD) I get cold sores.. and she told me, it is a little known thing that if you get Herpes Symplex B (cold sores) that it does give you a slight immunity to Symplex A (genital) It is not something the is spread a lot, because if people know it, they will be less likely to be using protection.. there are stupid people out there that if they had that info, they would be like "I am immune!" and then go out and get herpes A on their ding dong....
If you have ONLY Symplex B (cold sores) and you go down on a chick.. well you can give them herpes (B not A) on their hatchet wound.. and if you touch your sore on your lip and touch your eye, touch your dick.. well you can spread it....

If you have any kind of herpes it will raise your immunity to the other kinds. But you can get the other kinds. And just to throw a stat out there 1 out 5 people have it. And about 70% of people have hpv. Stay clean wrap it up. Knowledge is power. I wish I knew that shit a couple years ago.

Guys, HSV 1 and HSV 2 are NOT two different strains of the virus. Herpes Simplex Virus is one virus. Type 1 and Type 2 simply deleniate WHERE the outbreaks occur.
HSV Type 1- Above the Waist
HSV Type 2- Below the Waist
It is "most commonly" either oral HSV or genital HSV, but outbreaks can occur on the cheeks, eyes, ears, etc. As well as people can have HSV outbreaks on their genitals, legs, anus, and groin. Without getting overly technical, the Herpes Simplex Virus sits on a nerve, that is why stress and certain allergies can trigger outbreaks.
There are two conflicting theories with Herpes Simplex Virus. The first, being that taking anti-virals like VALTREX is effective in reducing the number of outbreaks and overtime eliminating them. While this has shown to be somewhat true, the other theory is that a person should AVOID drugs like Valtrex and allow themselves to have frequent outbreaks for the first 1-3 years. After this time, the body builds a very strong immunity to the virus, and while it never goes away, outbreaks become so infrequent that they almost never occur, and some people are able to go 10 years outbreak free.
The benefit of using a drug like Valtrex however, is that you can significantly REDUCE THE RISK of spreading herpes to your partners. So it is a 6 of one a half dozen of the other trade off.
My assumption would be that if you have HSV-1 then your body has been exposed to the virus for quite some time and you may have a seriously reduced risk of contracting HSV in other areas of the body. However, it is important to understand as I mentioned earlier, they are not two different "strains" of the virus, the number ONLY signifies location on the body.

I read that 1 in 4 Americans have genital herpes, and that 3 out 4 of those who do don't even know it

viruses not well understood
Take L-lysine to prevent outbreak of type 1 herpes zoster on your lips. The virus lies dormant in the ganglion of Cranial Nerve 7 and like all viruses they are opportunistic. They wait until your immune system is compromised and then they surf down the axoplasmic flow of the nerve and break out on the surface of the nerve ending where it innervates the skin around the mouth. Now why do they call them cold sores. Usually spiking a fever, getting sick is when they break out because the immune system is compromised. How L-lysine works is to in depth for now. Type 2 herpes and chicken pox and shingles are all the same virus, in a way. Don't mess around with anyone that has herpes unprotected. Some say only obstain during breakout but that is no so. Taking suppression drugs only does that. Suppresses, it doesn't prevent the spread. Type 1 on the mouth cannot develop into type 2below the waist during oral sex. This is mode of thought for most Dr. but I tend to think viruses can infect any tissue it wants and mutate at anytime it wants. I don't think they really know much about viruses at this stage. How can they lie dormant on inanimate objects for so long and then when a host comes along just start replication and assembly line to rebuild millions of themselves????
