Workout Partners
Do you guys have workout partners. i hate it you cant focus and never workout as much.
i guess if you also have someone who is huge and serious helps but i hate it.
when you work out with some smaller friend or something and then they try to tell you how to do it different!!!
so most guys here workout alone or with other people.
i find going to the gym with more than 1 person is a recipe for a garbage workout.
i think if you do its gotta be 1 guy who is on par with your level, workout, and intensity. most guys arent reliable, dont know what theyre doing, dont care or try or just get jealous of you and try to tell you how do it lmao.

im bigger and stronger then 90% guys i know ( i know sounds cocky but the truth)
i dont want/have a workout partner as they will only slow me down.
i go to the gym put headphones in and do my thing.
oh but i do have personal "gym spotters"

I have two different partners, one at school and one at home. I definately make better gains with the one at home who's way stronger than me.

i train with a small crew (4-6) people. they are great teachers as well as friends. since i met them my squat has went up over 100 pounds and my total about 200 pounds. if your after strength, then get with a good crew!

x2 I have a training partner right now and hes competing as a fitness model at around 170 and right now I'm about 100 pounds heavier and the training is so different I can't stand going with him anymore. All he's good for is giving me a spot sometimes and I go out of my way everyday to pick him up and take him to the gym, he has no ride. I've got to start training alone again or find someone on my level.

I'm 43 with a pretty physical job if I trained hard enough to warrant having a partner, I would have to lay tiles whilst laying on my back. So I train alone purely for self preservation, lol! Three kids are also some work.

A good work out partner is very rare. When they come up with excuses to why there late or why they can't train today it annoys me.Bullshit can have a contagius effect so my training partner is my MP3 player, and my clock that tells me that 30 seconds is up and it's time to do some more damage.

i fly solo here, my buddy tries to get me to work out with him, but i just dont get the workout i want when i do.

the only time i need a partner is for heavy squats other than that they get in the way.

I've only had one good workout partner in my life and that was my brother. Others would be undependable for time, wanting to show up period, not wanting to train legs, etc.
He lives far away so I train alone now.
The good thing about having a partner is that you don't have to worry about people trying to take your station when you go to the water fountain. One person can stay at the station if it is busy time of the day.

yeah, thats a good point. Nothing pisses me off more than when i go fill up my water bottle and some 140 pound idiot takes you machine.

I always try to live my notebook, straps, etc. very close so they know that I'm working there. I'll let someone work in so they don't have to sit around and wait for me to finish. It is irritating when someone non-pro trainer is using three stations during peak gym times. Unless you're Jay Cutler or Dennis Wolfe...have some consideration.

Yeah I get alot more accomplished when i'm just in my zone and nobody i know is around, thats why i workout at 6 am. Had a friend with me today and had a great workout because he kept push'n me on all my lifts, and i went heavier than i've gone in awhile, so i guess it balances itself out.

I have a nice setup at home. My dad spots me. Hes retired like me and doesn't do anything all day so it works well.

question: how do you get rid of a training partner.. ive been training with my friend for a couple of months now, and it's just too annoying. never trained legs with me, will skip cardio because he has "school in the morning", will miss workouts because he "met a girl and are going out", "finger hurts" etc.. it's really annoying when i'm in the middle of psyching myself up and i'm in the zone with my music blaring and he always interrupts with some bullshit that i couldn't give a fvk cabout while i am working out, gym time is gym time, not bullshit time

I have a few guys I will call or will call me to workout with, if I need a spot on something I can usually find someone I know at the gym. If I'm doing legs or something, I'd just assume go to the gym alone, but a lot of my workouts I like to do to failure, like to have someone to spot and force negative reps.
