Question on solar heat.
Hey, Since summer is coming on now I build a little shed for my dogs to have shade. The roof is tin and approximately 4 foot off the ground, but I no the tin gets hot, just wondering if I painted the top white if it would reflect heat more and it wont be so hot and maybe cooler for my hounds.
Any suggestions? Thanks

Sounds like that would make sense since white absorbs the least. Give it a try!

If it's galvanized tin, you need to treat the metal so as to allow the paint to adhere properly. A better solution may be to get some insulation board, such as the fiberglass duct board that they use to make air conditioner plenums. The board is around 1 inch thick, foil covered on one side, and cuts easily with a razor knife. You can get it at Lowe's or Home Depot. Cut pieces to fit to the inside of the tin, and glue it in place with some silicone caulk. That will make more of a difference than the paint would.

ORRR you could get solar panels that are wired to a solar powered air conditioner that cools down your dogs and pours them ice cold water! jk
