let me tell you a story about my bank that just recently happened.. so i relocated to North Carolina from new york for some reasons, and i get a job at ruby tuesdays waiting tables. i go to the local bank of america to open up an account. a month into me having my account they decide that i am a risk and they put my account under review. they close my account saying i'm a risk and withdrew $60 from my bank account saying it's the charge for reviewing my account and that it's non refundable, and it says that in the terms of agreement that i signed when i opened the account

that pissed me off that they shut me down for reasons they could not even tell me

Bank of america sucks. We opened an account there for our new business. THey gave us a bunch of shit trying to deposite checks into the account. Same thing that we are high risk because we are new. So we switched banks

is it bc u have piss ass credit? I've realized that ones credit affects so much more than just getting a loan. It can sometimes even affect your car insurance.

Man, that would WAY push me over the edge. Lucky for non-existent criminal record that's never happened to me.

I'd be way out of that bank with my money...I bet they don't do that to people with decent-sized accounts, only small time hard-working types.

yeah i had a little over $500 saved up in my bank account, one day i go to deposit another check from my job and they say they can only accept cash as my account is being under reviewed. then letters were mailed to my house saying they had to close my account because i was a risk, so i am still waiting for my check to come in the mail with my remaining money that was in my bank account, so fvcked up how they charge $60 from your account so they can review you, and it's non refundable, rediculous i can't believe i signed from shit like that

i'm sure they broke a sweat, busted a nut, burned the candle at both ends reviewing your account. that can't be legal--there must be a class action in there some where...

i will sell all my BOA stock, because i like to think my piddly little voice means something.

had many issues with BOFA, once they held off on a check deposit, I went in with a BOFA check, and asked that it be cashed and deposited into my account as cash, so funds would be available right away.

I had just come from the gym, shirt with the sleeves cut off sloppily, sweat pants hat etc, not looking my best, she ID me, which isn't necessary since I have a bank card and entered my pin and was ONLY making a deposit.... that b$tch held up that deposit for 5 days, and I still couldn't get an explaination for it, at least they didn't charge me overdraft fees....

They did that with a post office money order that my mom got and she deposited in her account. they hold the MO for 5 days then it came back sayin that it was fake. then we took it to the postal office to get it checked to see if it was real and they gave us a slip saying it was thats how BofA cached that damn postal office money order after 10 days.

What happened to the customer is always right?[/QUOTE]

The customer is not always right in fact they are quite often wrong.

Why should a person have to put up with someone else’s crap just because they work in a service? That lady didn’t make the policies; she was just doing her job.

BECAUSE .... it could be FAKE then you spend the money... then... bank of america takes a huge loss. its called LOSS PREVENTION.

it was a certified check drawn from that branch earlier in the day. If they cant tell if its real or not they have problems. Fvck the girl who signed it was probably still there

    Ditto.

I had a business account with them until their bill collectors started calling a few days after I charged something on the credit card, asking me why I haven't paid for it yet.

The 4th time this happened, I asked 'em what the total on the card was, and sent them a check that same day, and told them to close my account. A month later, they sent me a statement for some sort of interest and service charge, and I called them up and cussed 'em out.

Of all the banks I'd avoid because of basic incompetance, BOA tops the list, IMHO.

    i disagree with the defenders.

you could make an argument for any security measure on grounds of loss prevention n shit like that. loss is a part of business and businesses need to learn how to balance security and loss prevention with customer needs.

"customer is always right", derkader, doesn't mean literally always right, der der da der!! It's a service philosophy by which you give reasonable doubt in favor of a customer or even try to please the customer even when they're definitely WRONG because it makes GOOD Business.

in israel you can't enter a grocery, a school, a library, a college campus (forget individual buildings, i'm talking campus perimeter), a mall, a movie theater, ...etc. without having your purse or bag ruffled through by security first. maybe boa should start doing that too, followed by strip search.

they should be a little brighter when it comes to determining what is real and fake. hell, you could've faked that post office verification letter...
and wtf talk to a branch manager to get your money back? please......

Somewhere, sometime, someone ripped off a bank with some scheme. They then create assbackwards policies that effect every customer, every day.
