When i was 15 i fell out of a moving bus....
got rushed to the emergency room and was apparently dead for 15 seconds. They shocked me back to life ....
Had nightmares of the things i saw or dreamed or hallucinated or may have been due to lack of oxygen going to the brain that's what doctors say.
In any case i hope not die again for a while....suck to go back to whatever i saw...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Near-death_experience
guys.....read up on near death experiences. This actually turned into a very interesting thread, so by all means keep sharing the stories are good.
when I think near death expereinces, I think out of body sensations/afterlife.
I have had out of body expereinces in dreams before.

In the same summer:
Motorcycle verses a tractor (that pulled out in front of me on the highway). I hit it broadside doing 60mph. That one tore me up good.
I just joined the army and was stupid about drinking. Overdrank one night, my friends dropped me off at my house. My sister found me in the bathroom on the floor and had to perform cpr to get me breathing again....to this day she still hasn't told our parents. Thank God for her.
september 10th 2005; practicing stuntriding (stunted professionally on streetbikes for 2 seasons) my motor locked up doing a spreader and it threw me over the bars fracturing my L4 vertebra and pelvis. Didn't walk for 6 months. Not really near death but life altering.

I think I know what some of you guys are digging for... I've had a ton of wild shit unfold in my life. I'm not trying to piss higher than anybody here, but I lived a good part of my life as an all out criminal. Not like Soprano's, more like grand theft auto style. So I've had my share of bar fights and shootouts with a couple of very close calls. I have survived a couple of real bad car crashes too. About a year ago I was sitting at a stoplight and a guy coming the other way lost control of his truck and plowed me head on. He was going about 70mph, I was stopped. The messed up thing was I didn't see it coming cause I was eating a sub sandwich. I heard it though, and I was thinking about it while I was chewing my food, but I was looking down. When I looked up it was a couple feet from me and closing in fast. Totaled out my f150. They had to cut the door off to get me out, but I was fine. At first all the people around thought I was dead. It was strange to hear people tall about me that way. What I really want to say is that once about 6 months ago I overdosed on xanax. I was really hammered and swallowed almost a hundred of the little football ones. My girl called an ambulance and I was in the hospital for a week. I really almost died. I remember what happened and it was a while before I could even speak about it without breaking down into tears. Somebody else posted a line that said they had this happen and they don't like talking about it, it's not a fond memory. It was not what I expected, more feelings than visuals. . It's just not something I should have been able to experience or talk about. It's scary shit and changes the way you live after. I know it sounds way too deep for a meathead, but **** it, there it is... how I had it.

Yeah, I've come close to dying many times as previously stated but never had one of those afterlife/seeing the light type experiences at all. I had extreme fear, but that was about the extent of it. Maybe because my heart never actually stopped beating during my medical emergencies when I was nearing death if not treated and the time the dude came at me with the knife that was more of a sh*t your pants and have your life flash before your eyes experience.
I also got into a bad fight one time when I was 19 and very drunk. Acutally I got blindsided and mugged. One dude knelt behind me and the other dude pushed me over him. My head hit the pavement and I was stunned. I took about a dozen shots to the head before I started to come around and realize what was going on (actually I was so drunk I had not even realized the dudes pulled that move on me to throw me on my back). I started punching back but was fighting from on my back. I got about 1/2 dozen punches in.
The next thing I remember is 2 cops talking to me about calling an ambulance for me. I refused. They told me I looked real bad and took a bad beating. I refused. They gave me a ride home.
I went home and passed out. The next morning I woke up and I couldn't open my eyes, not at all. I felt my way down the hallway to the bathroom and used my fingers to open up one of my eyelids. I was friggin shocked. My whole face was sooo swollen, like one of those dudes with some genetic defects with a major fat face or something.
I left the bathroom and started making my way back to my bedroom. At that time my father had woken up and was walking down the hallway towards me. He was like 15 feet away from me and said "40plus, is that you?" and when I didn't respond immediately he raised his voice in fear and said "Answer me, 40plus is that you!?" My face was sooo swollen my own father wasn't even sure it was me in his house from 15 feet away from him.
He took me to the ER. My face was so swollen they couldn't even get some of the x-rays they wanted to get. They admitted me for observation.
I later learned that shortly after the 'fight' began I was knocked unconscious and the 2 dudes punched, kicked, and stomped on my head and face for like 3 minutes straight according to witnesses.
My eyes, the white parts turned completely red, both sides of both eyes. You could see no white. That didn't completely clear for 6 months. I also had a pool of blood that formed inbetween my scalp and scull that was the size of about 1/2 of my head. It was like an inch deep, you could press on it and it was like pressing on a bag of silicone or something.
After healing up some I spent my weekend evenings in the city looking for those guys for like 6 months. Detectives were investigating the case and really wanted to catch them because the beating was pretty severe and ruthless. They warned me to just call 911 if I saw them because I told them I wanted to find them. At that time in my life I was pretty messed up anyway and consumed with hate and I was preoccupied with finding them and spent every weekend roaming the city looking for them. They were never caught or identified.
Obviously I survived but I've had at least a few concussions in my life, another one was when I was mugged by like 5 dudes because they were talking sh*t about me and I started giving them it back rather than just keeping my mouth shut. I got a concussion that time too but the beating was nothing compared to the other one. Only about a dozen kicks to the face and head or something like that and a few body shots that didn't even really matter.
For some reason all the known tough guys in my town started treating me differently after those experiences. Kind of like they were afraid of me or something. I never really got into fights and especially never started them but I got some kind of a reputation where guys who would try to intimidate people at parties and stuff always steered clear of me after that. One of the main guys in a crew that would always start fights on the weekends saw me soon after that first beating. I'm not sure what he thought but the look on his face was one of shock. Some kind of word spread about me but I'm not sure exactly what that was. Maybe they figured after those experiences (people did know I was looking for the original 2 dudes) I was the kind of person who even if I lost a fight I was beaten so bad that there's really no way anyone could beat me bad enough to make me be afraid of them, that I would keep coming back even if it was the next day or next month.Last edited by 40plusnewbie; 09-29-2008 at 03:55 AM.

Yeah, I was lucky. I was young. If that happened to me at my age now I bet the consequences would be much worse. When your young your body is more resilent.
The bottom line is that both of those situaitions happened because I was drunk. Drunks are easy targets. I had a messed up childhood and dealt with it badly by turning to booze and stuff in my late teens and early 20's.

one: fell asleep behind wheel on parkway doing 70mph (drinking)
two: fell asleep behind wheel on way to school head on to a minivan doing 30mph (up for 3 days beforewards)
three: OD (twice) & to hospital.
four: beaten unconscious by COs in lockup for assault. Never taken to enfermery, was dizzy for weeks.
five: attempt suicide, won't get into it.
Was a bit wild when I was younger, now everythings cool though. =]

Falling 18' off a deck landing almost squarely on my head and getting badly injured. The shock of the fall stopped my heart for a bit

haha, falling sucks.
Like 2 weekends ago I was locked out, tried crawling up the roof to wake my brother up.
On my way down I got stuck and realized I couldn't get up like I got down.
I hanged on a wooden 2x4 above our fence (its a town house with a fence and a column going like 6 feet around the top of the fence) I was hanging on the column above the fence and realized if I let go I'd fall into the top of the fence.
I started screaming and swinging my body and as I launched myself I missed the fence but went back first into a bush. The scariest part is right before you fall, but your situation is obviously worse lol.
