alot of you already treat our newbies with respect but there are a few that dont and i want to try and change that. we need newbies or we cant grow and if people jump down there throat everytime they ask a question there going to stop coming around and we dont want that. i just ask everyone to remember back to when you first joined and try to treat them with the same respect you would like to be treated yourself. a question that may seem petty to me or you may mean alot to them so lets try to help them the best we can or just bypass there thread. there here to learn just like all of us and the last thing they want or need is to have someone tear them up and treat them like a 3 year old so lets just try to be a little more understanding towards them.
thank you

We were all the newbie's at one time or another folks....we're here to educate and help, not bash. Just gotta remember the rules.

I 100% agree. No one should be disrespected due to lack of knowledge. No one started in this game knowing everything. This is what can chase a lot of over weight/out of shape people away due to our high on the horse shit. We should all be here to lift one another up.

good point PT, I guess I have to change my whole m.o.
seriously though, it seems like a lot of this is coming from guys that themselves have been here only a month or 2. there was one guy I noticed recently that kept talking down to new members, and in the course of it he would call them "noob", which seemed ironic considering he had joined that same month. he's no longer with us...

Good post as always PT, When someone flames the hell out of a newbie I like to look at a few of the flamer's first posts. More times than not, the questions they asked when they first joined were dumber than the newb they were just flaming... (Myself included lol) I've always wanted to post a link to their dumb post so they might remember that they were once in the same boat, but then I figured I shouldn't flame somebody for flaming somebody...

I've been guilty of this a few times in the last month or so, but to a lesser degree IMO.
I think there is a fine line between utter stupidity and lack of knowledge...You've got guys asking the same questions that are literally 5-10 threads below, or easily found with a search. It's the reason there are sticky threads that contain tons of information...
This is a message board and people rely on the knowledge of members yet don't understand there are volumes written about the most common subjects tucked away.
It's the need for instant gratification or an answer that drives me nuts...

I admit i get frustrated with the same questions being asked everyday, but i will take into account with what you mentioned. Just because i see the same question doesnt mean i have to tear them apart.
I will be sure to keep in mind what it was like to be new.

On a car forum I am on, there are sections in every category that says please read first before posting a question. In each forum there is a compilation of tons of FAQ threads that someone can read before they ask a question that has been asked a thousand plus times. I think we need something similar.

like most of you i have also ben guilty of this on a few occasions but im trying to change myself. the whole point of this is to help the board because like a said previously, no newbies=no board. when was the last time any of you saw myself or any other moderator, vet or monitor ask a question? its a rareity. we want this board to grow even larger and in order for that to happen we need to help instead of criticize. thanks to everyone for understanding

I understand what you are saying....I myself just keep my mouth shut when it comes to that stuff. its not my place and i dont take it into my own hands
but at the same time, nobody wants any respectable site to turn into bodybuilding.com
growing is not worth it if it leads to a dumning down of the site.

^^^ I 100% agree with that...
As well as the amount of bad advice thats been happening lately...
Im sorry, i feel a sort of responsibility to speak up when someone does give bad advice.
Whether id be doses, lengths, or just advising AAS to 18 year old kids...
I understand if someone is hell bent on using, then by all means, make sure they dont hurt themselves. But you should at least attempt to change the mind of said KID before recommending any AAS related advice.
This has been especially bad today...Last edited by WARMachine; 10-01-2008 at 04:08 PM.

I agree.... I used to always answer questions in the diet/supp/ workout threads...until I got tired of answering the same damn question over and over and over again.....I don't mind helping people out with the meal plans but hell at least attempt to put one together yourself!!! Ok...rants over.

i agree 100% that people should run a search but then again almost every single question asked everyday was answered on this board at one time or another. if anyone dosnt like what is being asked then simply ignore the thread and move onto the next. there are between 1200-3000 visitors watching us at all times and my goaly is to make them feel more welcome so they will eventually join and help our community grow even larger.

PT, you should consider changing your avatar of the guy wagging his finger (which may be frightening to new users) to something more welcoming like this:
you know, people would feel more welcome and such.
