Thread: Who's your hero?

Who's your hero?
It seems to me that these days people are "hero starved".
Some Musicians, song writers and rappers who have little to no talent are millioniares.
People would kill just to get a chance to touch or talk to a celebrity.
Fans will climb over eachother to be the first to get an autograph from a 3rd string professional athelete.
What about the single mother or father working their ass off day in and day out to provide a happy home for their kids?
What about the Vietnam vet who put his life on the line for his country and saw his best friend killed overseas?
It seems to me that as long as somebody stands strongly for, or strongly against something that people will admire them for their convictions.
Whether or not what they stand for or against is morally or ethically correct seems secondary.
So my question is, who inspires you?
Who makes you want to be better than you are?
Is there someone out there that has affected the way you live your life in a positive way just because of the way they are?
And if you could be just like one person, who would it be and why?

Shannon Briggs the HW boxer, I made a ton of cash on one fight in November of 2006 and it changed my entire life (hot Colombian wife, new house) while I only won $1500 on the fight it set of a chain of events leading up to my success.

Good answers. I'd have to say my dad as well. Him, his mother, and his brother were beaten by his father pretty much every night. They lived in a pretty bad neighborhood in SoCal.
He served in Vientam, married my mom and had me and my brother. Instead of being like his father he moved out of the city to raise us kids and even for a while when we were dirt poor, my brother and I never knew it. He never drank, did drugs, or was bad to my mom. I'm proud of him for rising above all the garbage he grew up with to become a good man. I hope to be as good a person as he is.

david suzuki is the shit for sure.
there was a big poll done and they asked canadians if they could hang out with any canadian, who would it be?..
he came in 2nd!
for me, i cant say my parents. they both have said they hope i die of aids and that im going to burn in hell. so.... definately not them.
someone that inspires me?...
myself.
i've been on my own since i was 16. i kept a roof over my head, i put myself thru school, when i got fat i got myself motivated to lose the weight and get fit.
but, as far as people i respect - those who help others and who are genuine.
NOT those assholes that are like "i support XXXX cause"..and they only support that cause cuz they have to deal with it also.
look at christopher reeves. he only opened a paralasys research foundation after he was paralyzed. he didnt give a shit before hand.
or people with diabetis, cancer, etc etc etc - who then become the #1 supporter of others, and that "whatever" they have is THE worst thing ever....but when they didn't have "whatever", they didn't give a shit.

I'm with you on both of your points bro. Hypocrites who believe in a cause because they were thrust into a situation they didn't expect are fake. I guess people do change when life slaps them in the face but it shouldn't have to come to that in reality.
A man who makes himself into who he is, BECAUSE of who he is, and in spite of those who would bring him down, gets a pat on the back from me. You're your biggest critic, and if you're good enough for you, screw anybody that disagrees.
Respect bro.

I have a bunch, people like Ben Franklin, William Wallace, the fictional character V. Anyone who is willing to give their flesh and blood for an idea is very powerful to me.
