Anyone Mod their PS2?

Been wanting to mod mine to play my backups. I know they have a sodderless chip out now.

Looking for insight on what options are available. A few years ago, it seemed easy to find the options and installation insturctions, pictures and all.

Does not seem so easy anymore.

Yes , i bought a mod chips off ebay (external chip , plugs into port) which also includes a boot cd. I also bought a Maxtor harddrive and was set. I would rent PS2 games , then burn them directly to the HD.

When i wants to play, load boot CD, then pick the game you want to play from the list of games loaded to the HD and your done. You can play the game directly from the HD without the CD.

I just wish they would make a modification so my PS3 plays PS2 games.

It will play PS1 games, but not PS2... Stupid? I thought so...

Find me one of those on Ebay if you can and have the time to help a brother out! I checked and just found 2 already mod'ed PS2s.

You just use a standard PC external HD? Think you can download the games onto it? A lot of people upload the torrents.

There's like 2 or 3 different models, all with different sized hard drives and different reverse compatibilities. I just so happened to get the one that didn't pla PS2 games. Shoulda done some looking into it before I bought it, but I bet they'll come out with an update for it eventually.

intresting.... thats dumb to only play ps3 games... defeats the purpose of buying it new when only a few games were out for it...

i modded my xbox, u can save the games right on the hard drive (after u put a bigger one in)
