    This is not an easy thing to do. Over a certain speed its very difficult to clutch the first gear.

    so what happened? he hit first gear and seized the motor?
    My car is very difficult to shift into first gear unless you're going less then 15 miles per hour even then it's only easy to do at less then 8 miles per hour. You have to force it, someone told me it has something to do with the syncros.

    plus im sure the car had a more race oriented/stronger/harder transmission and clutch since its a drag car.

    so it would be even harder i would imagine.
