Anyone live in or near Manhattan Beach, CA?

I'm planning to go down there for vacation in May. I just wanna ask a couple of questions real quick.

cool man, I really wanna get the scoop from a local. a few friends and I are renting a beach house on the strand for memorial day weekend. but when I looked it up on google maps, I notice what appears to be a large oil refinery only 3 or 4 blocks north of us up the strand. I'm wondering, if ur familiar with the area, would this affect our vacation...as in does it smell, make noise, smoke? how bout that part of the beach, does it attract a lot of the younger party crowd? and is that part of town a good spot for clubs and parties?
