Would you rather work from home or have a place of work?

For the past 4 years I've been working from home. I am a consultant. I can't argue with the pros.... no morning commute, I work my own hours, sleep in and work out whenever I want to, etc. The cons are finding the motivation to actually get to work (not post on forums, read blogs, look at porn etc), not get distracted by things around the house, people coming over and expect you to help out with whatever they need because you don't work a 9-5 at a 'job'.

Then there's the loneliness factor. All day by yourself, no one to shoot the shit with. Outside of meeting with clients I am by myself for the majority of the day. It's nice at first but ultimately gets boring. I don't have so much business that I can't handle it all myself, so hiring employees, getting an office, etc would not be feasible (at least not right now).

Do you enjoy working at a designated place of work, or would you rather work from home?

Yeah ultimately that's what I'd want. A place of business to travel to and get away from the house. I hear ya about being the boss, I can't stand taking orders from people. I never have been a good employee in the past because of that.

I enjoy working from home. Allows a lot of freedom, but as you said discipline can be a problem. If you can't manage to discipline yourself to work on your own, then I think an office would be a better bet.

I quit my job about a month ago and I am doing some small time investing and flipping from home but find that not having an office is a challenge. I have all of this free time and need to be careful not to develope habits that aren't profitable. RIght now though I am the happiest I have ever been with life so i would have to say the at home is better.
