What do you guys consider to be a strong squat?
As title says, squat is considered the 'king' of exercises by most people.
Wondering what people consider a strong squat to be. And what do you squat?
i'm 21, so far all natural and i squat on the olympic bar
308 in 3 sets of 10, that's going parallel if not abit more (and then realise oh sh@t i didnt meant to go this low)
418 is the most i ever put up.
Wondering what everyone is pushin, i personally consider squats one of the best exercises and im sore as f@ck from my session earlier, good stuff.Last edited by Dazza21; 04-10-2009 at 06:25 AM.

I agree squats are so important, form is far more important than weight but it sounds like your doing well..

Double your body weight for 10 reps.

A strong squat has to be a good squat, body in the sitting position. Great numbers man, as long as you can build mass with those numbers, keep it up.

I know so many weak nothings who claim to have squatted 500lbs+ in high school football...... 2 inch squats ftw.

I think 315 for 10 reps is a strong squat ( totally natural). I don't do one rep max.

I consider a strong squat to be the one you were sure that you couldn't drive out of the hole without damaging yourself.

Honestly, to me other people's numbers are irrelevant. I compare my lifts what I have recorded in my logbook. Of course, I'm coming up on 45 and am too old to play games with you young f@ckers.

i sucked so bad a squating when i first started and it scared me lol but now hitting 600 for sets of 5, once you start getting stronger legs your abs and back start to be the weak point holding that much weight straight up and down and not leaning over forward.

I remember seeing this guy at the gym you would regularly put 480 on the bar, and then literally move 2 inchs.......and i bet he used to tell people he squatted that thing is he was obviously on the juice, he's put on something like 3 stone in 4-5 months and had more stretch marks then a pregnant anorexix chick but completely neglected his legs.

Id consider a comfortable 450lb double adequate, I think if you can do that, then you probably have some idea of what you are doing, and have put in time and effort. Im not a great fan of singles myself, seen too many people slip discs trying to show off.

I agree, say what you want about the Smith Machine but it's much better from front squats in my opinion.

I can feel more muscle tension in front squats, of course lighter weight than the regular one.

I was doing 680 (I'm a powerlifter, not a body builder) while on cycle, I got sloppy after my cycle and lost my form. So now I'm re-training my form and I'm doing 500 parallel for 2 reps. During my next cycle I'd love to get to 700. That's my goal.
Anything about around 500 is a good squat. Most guys I see in the gym don't squat, and if they do, they can barely do 1 1/2x their own body weight. Sad.
