First, the article is rather old. Second, the guy isn't "hoping for America to fail" he's simply making a prediction based on economic and foregin policy realities. For some reason people can't see how eerily similar we are to the Soviet Union just before it collapsed. The primary forces behind the collapse of the Soviet Union was a poor economy, political upheaval and an overextended foreign policy. The Soviet Union collapsed because it was fighting an unwinnable war against Osama Bin Laden in Afghanistan for 9 years and economically ravaged itself. The collapse was based on economic reasons and not because of military might. No empire lasts forever and ours is exceptionally young to be in the condition we're in. Now, I'm not saying I agree with this guy at all, but all empires generally fall for the same reasons and to ignore it or play ignorant is profoundley anti-American as it will result in it's downfall.

Not saying I agree with this particular scenario but all "great" civilizations fall in time to see another one rise. Provided this planet isnt cast into oblivion by the hand of man before we get a chance to see it happen.
We are the most powerful nation the world has ever known. This should be considered carefully.

Technically speaking "America" has been gone for decades. So don't worry, this new gov't thing they have going on will continue to spiral downhill until the serfs wakeup.

Funny how you can tell people this, but they will NEVER believe you.
"America will never fall"....
But the same people watch movies about the Roman Empire, Napoleon, Germany, England and their collapse, yet for some reason think America is different.
It's quite hilarious to say the least. The average American can no more think outside of the box than a child. They view the world from the bubble that is America..never able to view it from any other perspective. This in essence has allowed the Gov't to trample civil liberties, destroy the currency and build a world Empire that is bankrupting the nation.
It has gotten so bad that all someone needs to do is stand up and say "Change" and people follow. lol
There will be absolutely no change whatsoever, they will continue to run their world Empire until it collapses the economy. It's not a matter of how, its a matter of when it will happen. History already shows us how this will happen, its the when that we do not know.***No source checks!!!***

It's all relative really and a matter of how you perceive it. When you're in a plane you have absolutely no idea how fast you're really going, but if that cabin happens to breach and you started going down...well you'll realize soon enough, but than it might be too late.

It's an interesting premise that America won't fail because we have bases all over the world. That is precisely why we will fail. Even with the great wealth that we once had, we can't ignore economic reality forever. No country can continue to spend money that does not have, regardless of how well intentioned the people on either side of the debate are. We do not have the money; we did not have it for Iraq and we do not have it for Medicad. They are just printing money out of thin air and many of you think it's unAmerican to even mention it? Ron Paul was the answer, but I'm afraid it may be too late now... (and BTW, I'm an optomist!)

It is a part of God's Infinite Power that He humbles all nations and empires, no matter how strong in the land. No empire has lasted the test of time.

For once I agree with ruhl, and it's the public tearing the nation apart with unreasonable lifstlye demands on elected officials in realation to economic production on top of out of control military spending. We can't run a 1.75 trillion dollar deficit forever and expect to stay around.

I agree with Ruhl and Kratos, How people think that America can ignore basic laws of economics and still prosper is beyond me. What is coming will certainly make us personally stronger, though...

An old saying....
The bigger they are, the harder they fall.
When a person gets cocky or thinks they are above or beyond anyone else's reach, they think they can overpower or pressure the smaller person into their demands. But while
they admire there might the smaller person is just allowing them to fall into their trap. The trap being is that they was never scaring or pressuring the smaller person, they was simply aggravating and igniting
the bigger beast.
The US seems to be doing a pretty good job of screwing its own future. I just hope others don't come to join in, or we will all be f*cked.Last edited by xo3et; 04-20-2009 at 01:51 PM.

Any country who tried to invade the US would get thier asses kicked. All we have to do is clone Ronald Reagan and everyone would be running scared like in the old days. His time has come again.

Yeah having a president who couldn't remember shit would be great for this country.... Reagan makes me sick!!!
The US won't fail. All this talk about this country going to hell in a hand basket because things aren't going your way is pure chicken little syndrome. Dems thought the same thing for the last 8yrs. And look what happened...NOTHIN!!! We are still the most powerful country on the planet. Sure we have some problems, but they aren't problems that can't or won't be resolved, whether with this administration or the next. We differ from other empires in that the people have a little more say so than past ones. Just like the civil rights movement of the 60's, if shit gets too bad the public will make known it's dissent.Last edited by BgMc31; 04-20-2009 at 10:50 PM.

As much as I don't want it to happen, at some point it will. No country can stay on top indefinitely; don't look now, but here comes China.

I do agree with you that a lot of people today who are warning of a downfall are just opposing what Obama is doing, but that shouldn't take away from what is really happening.
Most people who think we have a high chance of failure don't see this as the fault of one president. We see it as a gradual destruction of rights and a degradation of the economic system. You may think it's different cause the citizens will just rise up, but that's happened in societies before and civil unrest is the result. Having a voice in Congress through your representative may have helped if we had allowed representation to grow proportionate to population growth, but since 1929 there's been a cap on representatives. Before that legislation, it was about 1 representative per 50,000 now it's about 1 per 700,000 and increasing daily. The aspect of capping the maxium number of people alowed per district is so important that it's actually the real First Amendment to the Bill of Rights, but it hasn't been ratified yet. Like it or not the voice we have has been diminishing for a while.

No, I'm not arguing that it will remain number for all time. But what I am saying is that it won't plummet the way many expect. There will be change over the next couple hundred years, but I expect the US in the next 2-300yrs will end up like what Great Britain, France, Spain and Portugal are today.
