fda condems hydroxycut
thought u guys might wanna read this...
The FDA said it has received 23 reports of serious liver injuries linked to Hydroxycut products, which are also used as energy enhancers and as fat burners.
The reports include the 2007 death of a 19-year-old man living in the Southwest, which was reported to the FDA in March. Other serious liver problems reported included liver damage that resulted in a transplant in 2002, liver failure, jaundice, seizures and cardiovascular problems.
The FDA is warning consumers to immediately stop using 14 Hydroxycut products manufactured by Iovate Health Sciences Inc. of Oakville, Ontario, and distributed by Iovate Health Sciences USA Inc. of Blasdell, New York.
The company is voluntarily recalling the following products: Hydroxycut Regular Rapid Release Caplets, Hydroxycut Caffeine-Free Rapid Release Caplets, Hydroxycut Hardcore Liquid Caplets, Hydroxycut Max Liquid Caplets, Hydroxycut Regular Drink Packets, Hydroxycut Caffeine-Free Drink Packets, Hydroxycut Hardcore Drink Packets (Ignition Stix), Hydroxycut Max Drink Packets, Hydroxycut Liquid Shots, Hydroxycut Hardcore RTDs (Ready-to-Drink), Hydroxycut Max Aqua Shed, Hydroxycut 24, Hydroxycut Carb Control and Hydroxycut Natural

HA! thats funny. is it just me or is everything on this planet a risk factor for cancer or death? though a shitty overpriced product, the harmful effects of it would be minute compared to thousands of other common things. the FDA also says there are TONS of deaths "linked" to steroid use . take the word linked with a grain of salt

Fun with statistics
NSAIDS a 1996 study:
(1996): "Each year, use of NSAIDs (Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs) accounts for an estimated 7,600 deaths and 76,000 hospitalizations in the United States." (NSAIDs include aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen, diclofenac, ketoprofen, and tiaprofenic acid.)
If we make the assumption that everyone in the US (approximately 310 million people) take some form of NSAID then the mortality rate of NSAIDS are: 7600/310000000 = approx 2.45 e-5 or in simpler terms : .0000245% obviously on the low side as we assume everyone in america uses NSAIDS
Now if we assume that 2million people use hydroxy cut (obviously reducing the pool size and elevating the %) we have 1/2000000 we get .0000005...
the discrepency being .0000240 making ibuprofen and other NSAIDs (.0000245/.0000005) 49 Times more deadly than hydroxy cut and thats under assumptions that alter the statistics in a manner that makes hydroxy cut worse than it really is....
