he is very intimidating from a looks perspective but could not hold a belt in any small show. I wouldn't go out of my way to fight him but he is not near as tough as he gets credit for

I don't put Kimbo up to the same level as the other UFC level fighters, but I thought with his history and personality, he was definitely good for the sport. MMA needs to have their personalities to bring in new fans all the time.
Kimbo was fun to watch fight. He had some pretty decent boxing skills... better than some UFC fighters, even though his ground game was nil.

i'm going to catch heat for this.. as i use to always catch it... kimbo is a nice guy, and most of the shit he gets is because the people that promote him and he works for know nothing about fighting they just know the more you talk up somebody the more money it brings...
I met him briefly and he seemed good hearted, but the people around him didn't seem to be worth a shit.. and lets please not pretend that there hasn't been other non talent MMA fighters get boosted up and had nothing to show for it.

the big problem with MMA is that you have to fight for a federation .. you can't just be a fighter. in boxing even though there are different belts from different federations anybody can fight who ever.... the top heavy weights in the UFC can not fight somebody like fedor.. not because they don't want to but because there is no money in it for dana white.. the problem with MMA is that lets be honest the main events are boring. i mean the last UFC match was so horrible that even dana white had to admit it was horrible.. but guess what he won't change anything because it makes him money.
the problem with MMA is it went from letting whoever whenever fight to now, whoever makes the most money.... so in the aspect kimbo was no different some of the other fighters that they keep bringing back to fight way past their prime. or keeping guys fighting people we all know they can beat just to keep their records up.... kimbo was a money maker for who he fought for.. less talent in MMA, but no different in why they boosted him up....

I agree with good role models being good representatives and they're the one's I usually cheer for. But I think the sport needs to be balanced to be a full draw for all fans. I used to want to see Tank Abbot fight just so I could see someone knock him out. Like pro wrasslin', MMA needs their badguys also.

You guys must understand Kimbo's background. He started out on a dvd called Bum Fights. He was making $50 to knock people out in backyards and garages. The dudes behind him just kept using him and he ended up getting a contract.
Dude has major boxing skills, He just needs to be trained properly.

Didn't he beat the crap out of Tank Abbot? I know he's not champion material, but Tank can punch until he gasses.
