Teaxas Cuts Steroid Testing budget in half

I thought it was interesting that they announced today that they cut the budget for testing high school students for steroids . When they passed the bill in the beginning it was because the battle cry of legislators was that it had reached epidemic proportions, and that our youth were in imminent danger. There was a major panic.

They cut the budget in half because they are averaging 4 positive per 10,000 tests.

They cut the Budget in another state recently too. I think florida (Im not 100%). The whole steriods scare was nonsense. Teenagers have more access to rec drugs than they will ever have to aas. As an adult it is not easy to get access to aas. Most kids cannot afford it, let alone know how to use it.

I imagine how much money was lost on 4 pos test out of 10k.. wow

Answer: 6 million dollars budgeted, plus the amount of tax payer money to have the bill drafted, lobbied, and time in session over this matter. total atleast 10 million.

Interesting. Thanks for the share. Don't like the idea of highschool kids using AAS before they're done growing. I think it's more common that 4 in 10,000 using though. I have a few freinds who used in highschool.

Did you view the link? they caught a total of 7 kids in th last 19,000 tests. Additionally they have only found a grand total of 11 throughout the entire program duration. That is roughly 1 million dollars per student. and remember they aren't checking random kids. They are only checking athletes. I do not condone kids on AAS either, the thread though is geared towards our charge the hill mentality a s a society and the amount of money wasted on these outlandish endeavors. In texas we have a huge surplus in the budget and theya re trying to figure out what to do with all the extra money. GIVE THAT SHIT BACK OT THE TAX PAYERS!!! You do not have to find a way to spend it. It is not extra money. It is my money and I want it back. I spent out of my bank account over 200k last year. taxes are an issue with me.

i agree and am happy they have cut it way back i personally hate the current witch hunt. but if u honestly think only 7 out of 19000 are using then ur crazy. 4 guys i played high school ball with used and that was just at one school and of the people i knew. high school seasons are so short and so easy to cycle around thats why i also think the testing is so pointless.

Yeah bro, I have no idea who is using or how many at that level, but I can say that during the witch hunt it has been a dry run. It is hard for me to believe that it is very big if they tried to catch that many kinds and failed. I mena who were they testing you know? the small kids only?

BTW where is the video with the funny guy trying to find out who does the steroids posted awhile back? The SNL skit I think? That would have to be about the size of the whole deal for them to miss by so much if it really is that big. I just never knew anyone in school that did it. It has only been 20 years though! ;-p

my point is that there is 2 big of a gap in time when they dont test so really in a nut shell they shouldnt test at all. plus they dont test everyone its just random which i dont believe in either. so 2 guys use gear only one gets tested and busted so he loses everything the other guy goes to a d1.
