wait...i am confused...
this article was released yesterday yet there is this quote in it:
"A team of amateur fossil hunters discovered the near-perfect remains inside a mile-wide crater outside of Frankfurt in 1983."
why has it taken 29 years to announce this? or did i miss something??
-
It takes time to completely analyze fossils.
Some people, for whatever reason, think within hours we can know everything. But really, it takes years to try and get a full picture, along with money and technology.
Here is another article...

I honestly think Christianity will be pretty much gone with a couple hundred years or less. Just like any other gods that the masses once believed, through time and technological advances, they are disproved and fizzle away.
But religion aside, this is just awesome in general, if it truly is legit. Everything Im reading thus far points that way.
Then again, Im no expert.

A fossilized "missing link" to the evolutionary puzzle does not disprove Creationism or the existence of God, although it will give Evolutionists a leg up along with secularizing a greater part of future generations.

Right. I'm just saying, the two things (belief in God and some sort of an evolutionary theory) are not incompatible.
And to say that this archeological find will somehow be the end of religion surely betrays a lack of understanding of the subject.
Fine, be mad at religion because it doesn't agree with your personal beliefs. I don't care. But at least study a little bit about it if you're going to criticize it.

Yes there is a creator. Did he make this world and then forget about it? Yeah probably.
I'm pretty sure it's up to humans now to just live life. There's no higher being that help the good or punishes the bad. No heaven or hell.
Whatever that thing is, it's no answer to religion. Also, i'm not very educated on the subject but I don't really buy into evolution all that much either.

The purpose of religion throughout human existence it to explain what man could not explain for himself. As science and technology advances many religious principles are debunked. That is just the nature of the beast. The Abrahamic religions are relatively young in human history and like all religions they may or may not fal by the wayside as science and technology advance. But there is no harm in using religion as a guideline to living your life. Whether or not God created anything is immaterial to what religion is actually trying to teach and that is a way of living. I think people who put too much into proving the bible or any other holy book is literal, are focusing on the wrong things. They should be using the books as a way of teaching themselves how to live. I consider the holy books a book of lessons similar to Aeosops fables. They are lessons to be learned and not to be taken literal.
There doesn't need to be a missing link to prove evolution. The evidence that many different humanoids have existed over time is painfully apparent and nowhere in any of the holy books does it explain any of these. Why, because they hadn't a clue about them.

had a feeling this would turn into a religious debate quickly.
To stay on topic.
That's amazing that something that old is still in tact. It will be interesting to see what other theories and discoveries it proves and disproves. I bet the original discoverers are kicking themselves in the ass on that one.

Maybe God made the missing link, he lived in Africa (The mother land) then the Aliens took him and he evolved into a scientist and made a spaceship to escape then crashed into the area where he was found.
Just a Theory...

You guys should pick up a copy of the book "The Case for a Creator" by Lee Strobel. Its a very good read for anyone who thinks science disproves religion. It actually takes the side that science and religion support each other. And how all that we know from science points towards Intelligent Design. It touches everything from big bang, to evolution, to natural selection, philosophy, the concept of the human soul, etc.

Mate I was all over this article today in The Guardian. "Ida" is 47 million years old and is so well preserved that they were able to take some DNA samples from her hair and flesh. She still had relatively intact organs and they could even see what her last meal was (some grass and shoots, no insects). It's a truly amazing find and I guarantee this thread will descend into yet ANOTHER religion vs science thread. BigSexxy, maybe you could ask a Admin or Mod to move this to the Science Thread?
