The back story is that they are getting charged, but the basterds will get off easy I bet due to canadian law. I have a buddy of mine who caught anotherguy stealing his car, he tried grabbing him and got stabbed 6 times. The baste.rd only got 8 months. If you want to get into crime come to Canada.
