For the people here in New York can you recomend a good gym. I have been up here for a few months now but haven't found a descent gym yet. I don't want some overpriced Powerhouse horse shit either. I hear that Steel is great but I don't want anything too crowded.

Powerhouse, World's & Gold's used to be real gyms. Now they are all chains who don't care about what they offer members, just care about how much they can make with spending the least.

Sounds like you have a shitty owner up there in manhatten. I'm a member of powerhouse gym, no contract, no initiation fee and 50.00 a month for 24 hour access. You tell them what you can pay and they work with you. Example: 6 month membership special 185.00 and you can make payments on it. I paid 30.00 every 2 weeks. I think that's pretty good.

If you dont mind leaving Manhattan, Platinum Gym on Queens Blvd was a favorite of Mine. Its a short train ride from Manhattan. Not very expensive.
