Greatest 5 series? Hmm....
Lost: Have been hooked on this since Season 1. Yes it's entered the world of complete weirdness but im a Lostie through and through. Favourite series of all time. Its all gonna be over in Season 6. No idea how they are gonna answer and finish everything.
Quantum Leap: Im glad this has been already mentioned. These shows could be funny, serious, poignant, clever. The ending had a somewhat bittersweet feel to it which is different from the usual "they lived happily ever after" crap.
Fawlty Towers: Probably the greatest Brit sitcom ever. Only 12 episodes, loved how easily stressed out Basil got.
Basil: Hello, HELLO?! Can anyone hear me? Can you see me?
Sybil: No Basil.
Basil: Oh. Good. Well I better have a lie down, better still i'll go and hit some customers.
The Shield: Only just got into this, what an awesome cop show! Everything was always so tense, and the ending was perfect. Very ambiguous.
The Office: The second greatest Brit sitcom ever. Gervais is at his cringeworthy best as awkward admin Boss, David Brent.
ManStrokeWoman: Another great, very under-rated and not known british sitcom. Really recommend a few of you YouTube some clips of this show.
Inbetweeners: Recent Brit sitcom about kids in high school. Sounds kinda lame, but is actually kinda hillarious. And it nails the attitudes of 14-15 year olds perfectly.

In regards to True Blood. I don't really get into the whole vampire thing but i'm still hooked hard on this show, it's down right amazing.
Also, the man vs wild show is a fake... Sorry to break the bad news, but the guy was caught multiple times lying about where he was and stayed in hotels when he was supposedly "camping" and "surviving"

^^^^^^^ there is more to the story than that....i dont know the ins and outs..and for sure some of the things he would of had help with... but for the stoping in hotels part he admits to staying in a base camp....he said that filming would some times take days...and he would stop in base camp for some of them but the actual nights that were filmed he would stop out..

The first 2 season of Lost were very good, but then it just got too ridiculous, and lost a lot of its fan base. TRUST ME the Shield is brilliant. I refused to watch it for a long time, but once I started watching it, I couldn't stop, and bought every season on DVD. I refused to watch it online.

Had some buddies over for poker last night and I brought up all these tv shows i've been watching and he ended up being a big buff on all of them.
He then goes on to tell me that "the wire" was the best of all of them hands down.
Can anyone back this up?

Season one of True Blood was badass, The second one doesn't seem to have as much sexy and drugs as the first one, bus it's not even halfway into it yet so we'll have to wait and see.

In my opinion, The Wire only got good when they realized they had to keep up with The Shield. The Shield was truly groundbreaking. I couldn't believe some of the stuff they were showing on network TV. It was quite funny that The Wire, which was on a premium cable channel, had to become edgier to keep up with The Shield, which was on network TV.
