torrent/limewire struggling
so i had to send my comp back cuz the motherboard and hard drive went bad, so i reloaded everything back on it...
however i am having a problem, I used to use Bittorrent and Limewire, and when i would start these programs they would start immediately and go super fast... now i cant even get them to start... i really dont know what is the problem, i havent changed any of my router settings and i actually tried to disable everything that would block it (firewall, antivirus) and still doesnt connect... help?
-
and i cant go to utorrent.com... i have no idea why... it just says the page cannot be displayed...
-
Try bittorrent.org for a good torrent program.
Why are you even using limewire ? That program started bundling a lot of spyware/maleware so be careful.
-
thats what i originally used and it never connected... i just now got utorrent and its going... and i use limewire for indiv songs... is there a better prog? frostwire never connected, neither did bearshare.... and last i heard ares is dead...
-
I don't use the free downloads anymore other than bittorrents. I use a paid program for my downloads since i bought a Zune. I heard there is a good version of limewire called limewire lite i believe. Just becareful not to download all that junk with it.
-
gotcha... well utorrent is goin real fast, so thats working... i guess ill just have to find whole albums of the songs i want :-S lol...

limewire
Just a suggestion,
Have you tried un-installing and re-installing limewire? You may also want to run it off of a thumbdrive, you may never need to reinstall the program.
I use mine all the time and works great , on it right now.

another suggestion
not sure how you have your network set up. but you may want to run these programs off of a computer that you normaly dont sure on.
You will pick up a "virus" !! and alot more! even if you have a anti-virus program

Do any other programs run slow or just those, sometimes a motherboard replacement is the shits and it is hard to find something that would make decent speed as your old one did.
-
Also routers/firewalls can cause connection issues with torrent programs.

Utorrent asks to open a port up for you so it shouldn't be a problem there. Usually if a hard-drive and a motherboard go then the best idea I would have given you was to suck it up and get a new comp(this is unless you are under warrenty)
I have done new motherboards before for computers and I find they don't quite work as they did before. Just my 2 cents from doing computers as a career.

If you don't want the whole album, you don't have to d/l it. If you pick to d/l a album you know a song is on you want, and you just want that song, after you d/l the .torrent file and it pops up on your torrent downloader, you should have a option to only d/l what songs you want off the album.
Like this.....
Pantera
[+] Vulgar Display of Power
^^then check the plus sign next to the album so it looks like this...
Panera
[-] Vulgar Display of Power
[-]Mouth for War
[-]A New Level
[-]Walk
[-]****ing Hostile
[-]This Love
[-]Rise
[-]No Good (Attack the Radical)
[-]Live in a Hole
[-]Regular People (Conceit)
[-]By Demons Be Driven
[-]Hollow
^^then just select the songs you want to d/l
-
ok i will start doin that... ^^
and i was under best buy warranty for my laptop so i didnt have to pay a dime other than deal with the bull shit customer service lol
