    metalheads....need your opinions

aright.....I am early 20's, but I am snobbish about only listening to 80's-90's metal and rock......that includes but is not limited to metallica, maiden, megadeth, sabbath, testament, pantera etc etc I think you get the point.

for the last several years....I have absolutely turned my nose up to today's metal. I absolutely hate the screaming and harsh vocals. I think its trendy copycat crap.

I have tried in the past, and given some bands a chance. I have listened to trivium plenty. I think they can play and I like they way they sound, especially instrumentally. I think their guitarist is awesome. instrumentally, for me, their is an awful lot to like about them. especially since they sound so influenced by music I am a big fan of. I am really liking trivium as I am listening to them right now. about a year ago, I decided i did not like them. BUt because of their guitarist, I am having second thoughts.

Am I betraying myself? is this music really garbage? is it good? is it ok for me to like them? do you like them?

I went back to old school Bad Brians and hardcore/punk I grew up with. Hard to find good hard music for the gym.

Love the old school punk from back in the day.

When i'm working out, its usually a comp playlist of groups such as...

    Pantera
    Sepultura
    The Misfits
    Cannibal Corpse
    Danzig
    Black Flag
    Rollins Band
    The Exploited
    and many, many more....

Never really cared for too much modern music (last 10 years or so)

that put some sense in to me. this current day screaming crap just seems so juvenile. that link up above is real metal and what metal is really all about. Trivium sounds cool, but legends never fade.

Hey... I loved the screaming to the point where it runs together. You can laugh at Cannibal corpse and Rollins band, they have some songs I can workout too. As far as Danzig goes... was he overrated? Maybe, again, I can get into my workouts with some of his songs. First 4 songs from Panteras "Vulgure display of power" album rocked (except maybe "walk" got overplayed on the radio. And Sepultura, songs like "roots bloody roots"..... I love it.

I dont know guys. I have tried at 4 different times in my life to give modern day screamo metal a try. I just cant do it. to me it sounds really lame. which is a shame because I like the guitar work from a select few bands. its just a shame.
