overall, this is am impossible question to answer. I believe their are many bands that have reached a level that when they are all compared to each other......no one is any better than the other.

How has no one said Creed yet? Everyone knows Creed is the best band of all time. Followed closely by Puddle of Mud. (sarcasm by the way...) Really though, the best would have to be some one like Tower of Power. Not the best music, but definitely the some of the best musicians. Best song writer? Probably Tom Petty.

Any band that CONSISTENTLY makes good music.
Guns N Roses was one.
Cascada more recently just as examples.

Gun's N' Roses all the way.
Honestly Axel Rose was probably the best front man ever. Ozzy even said he was in an interview with Rolling Stone.
Saying Gun's N' Roses only had 3 good songs is like saying Zep only had Stair Way to heaven.
Appetite for Destruction is one of the best rock albums ever put out. That's all they needed to put out to secure a spot as one of the best bands ever.
As far as rock bands POST Zepplin, Gun's N' Roses is the best band and they were coming out in a time when Rock bands were not nearly as big as they were in the 60's and 70's when other legendary rock bands were.

Wanted to give even more Props to GnR!
If you have ever seen them live on the Use your illusion tour you would 100% agree with me.
Axel made you so pumped up, you wanted to start a riot and felt like you could flip a Cadillac by yourself.
