    G1 or Iphone?

Okay here it is, I am getting a new phone tomorrow, and I dont know what one to choose, I already have atnt, but I dont have a data plan.
I was going to get a G1 unlocked but I heard the 3g network that atnt has wont work with the G1.

Or I can get the Iphone, my only thing with the iphone is, I think I would have a hard time texting because my fingers are kind of big, plus I think the G1 has alot more exciting apps.

So I dont know if I should cancel my service and get the G1 from Tmobile or just get the Iphone, what do you guys think?

truthfully using the iphone with big fingers isnt all that bad you get used to it. I find typing on those little keyboards is 10 times harder

I've had both (iphone right now). The G1 is great if you want a computer-like experience. I like the ability to customize the G1 as you see fit (tons of widgets and Home replacements are available). I broke 3 of them, and I don't have Tmobile so I was paying full price for each.

After I broke the last one and didnt have $350 to throw down on a phone, I got an Iphone as I had an ATT upgrade available and it was cheap as I signed a new contract which I was going to do anyway. The IPhone is a "cleaner" user experience, and it's smoother and prettier to use. I do not like that you can't customize it beyond moving icons around. The hardware feels better in your hand and the end user experience is "simple."

Bottom line: If you want more of a computer/desk-top like experience, I'd go for the G1. If you want something sleek and easy, with the loss of a little customization, go with the IPhone.

Other observations: The only thing that really pisses me off about the IPhone is the inability to recieve/send MMS. Granted, this is not the phone's fault, but ATT's as they have for some reason decided to block this feature. If you want to get/send a picture it has to be emailed. I think Android is a great platform, but the hardware hasn't caught up to it yet. For some reason HTC (makers of the initial Android phones) are putting the operating system on sub-par hardware causing lagging and what not. Give me IPhone hardware with Android software...that'd be ****ing awesome.

There is a new google phone, the 3g is out now. I think that is a major upgrade to the G1.

this is a dumb question the iphone has solidified its place in the cellular telephone business..

it is the best there was/is/will be

i love it when people come up to me and are like yo dude? check out my f0ne its pretty much just like the iphone!

I usually just pick the phone up and do this little number with it

walk away and laugh because they are trying to compare something so meek to the almight phone de la i

iphone 3GS by far... I can't tell you how much I love this device. I use it for business, emails, scheduler, check the weather, calorie calculator, workout tracker, listen to the ipod during workouts, GPS turn-by-turn navigation with the navigon app. I use the skype app and pay $3 a month for unlimited calls and long distance to landlines and mobiles anywhere in north america... $3 per month!! I had to pay $700 out of pocket for the 3GS since I already owned the 3G on a contract and have not regretted it. It is so multi-functional. In fact, my internet at home just went down and right now I am using my iphone as a modem connected to my PC to tether my internet connection from it. Since I need an internet connection for my business having this phone as a backup high speed internet connection just saved me hundreds of dollars this week.

Rogers/Fido are raping canadians in the ass with their iphone price plans. I am paying to the tune of $90 a month with a 6GB data plan. W/o data I would be paying $60 for only 200 daytime minutes. Hopefully Telus/Bell will hop on the iphone train soon and force Rogers to drop their prices. They are monopolizing the iphone market right now and can charge any amount they want. It's BS
