Get OFF the internet.
This is undoubtebly going to be different for everyone, but think about HOW MUCH TIME you actually spend on the computer.
Just on your computer not just this site.
And give yourself a weekly average. Like how many hours everyday do you find yourself on the internet?
Cause I'm starting to notice a weird trend with technology thats rather scary, technology, computers, phones, have infected us worse then a virus.
EVERYONE looks like they are physically attached to some sort of electronic device now and days. Either with their hands to the keyboard or ear to a phone it so erriely displays people as almost turning into some sort of machine.
But back on focus. I really have been noticing a trend with myself, where no matter what else I think I'm doing when I'm on the net, or this site, I really feel shitty sometimes when I get off my computer like "OMG I wasted **5 FVCKN HOURS*** on the computer doing really nothing beneficial with my life at all".
I could be out having lunch with a friend, or being proactively socially involved, or just talking to and meeting people, spending time with the family, meeting a new partner, but wait.. I'm on the computer.
So I go to doing some research and I really think computers can cause depression. I found this study:
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/9841579 (summary)
http://74.125.113.132/search?q=cache...&ct=clnk&gl=us (actual study)
That asks: Internet paradox. A social technology that reduces social involvement and psychological well-being?
And I see it so much. Like I got the day off today and schools starting soon. Its beautiful out I could be walking my dog in the park but no.. I'm on the computer. I could take a ride to my folks house to say hi.. or take the bike for a ride in the trails by my house.
But wait.. I'm on my computer.. "one more minute". Seriously, I'd like to see peoples thoughts, ideas and reactions to this.
I could see the number one excuse perhaps being "this is what I do when I'm at work", but I think theres A LOT more people not like that. Or maybe I'm just looking for reassurance in my own life. Thoughts?

I have got quite a bit of chores done though my room was getting a little out of hand.

This is interesting that you have brought this up because I definitely think I spend too much time on the internet.
It's like a virus and I really hate how much time I spend as well. The internet has made access to information a mere click of a button away, but its made the world a smaller place. Why bother writing a letter to a friend of yours in another country when you can send them an email that will reach them in 0.08 of a second?
Chatrooms, forums, email, instant messenger, social groups like MySpace and Facebook, online E-Books, Government reports, PFD's.....it's handy but its turning people into very, very lazy people.

It wouldn't be as bad if I actually slept, which is what attracted me to this whole idea in the first place. But it would def have to be around 6 hours a day, or 42 hours a week, which actually makes the internet a full time job.
But the main thing that makes me think I have a problem is I consistently waste valuable sleep time EVERY NIGHT doing nothing on the internet. And its one of the symptoms listed in an internet addiction.

Who gives a shit. We all have different lives. Some of us don't have the luxury of taking a fvcking la-la land bike ride.
If you don't prefer to spend time on the net, then don't fvcking spend time on the net. Stop wasting time bitching about it.

Thats one thing that gets me too, is I spend soo much time looking at things like pop culture, latest news and events, youtube, porn, forums that match my lifestyle, but at the end of the day it literally becomes time from your day that vanishes into oblivion.
And it just repeats everyday.
I really think I'm going to be planning a break soon.
If I cut out 95% of my internet time I'd really have SO MUCH more time to do MUCH MORE important things.
Like I have till tonight to register for 1 more class before class starts tommorow and I've been pusing it off since last week, but I'm ALWAYS on the computer and thats all I need to register.. makes no gdamn sense why I have to put if off till last minute.

If you consider taking a bike ride a "luxury" I feel sorry for you.
But the "bitching" part is functional cause its a move towards awareness, which means its not bitching, its technically "educating".. unless you just happen to be in a bad mood then yeh its "bitching, bickering, whining, complaining, etc"

Being on a computer is my life, I have been using one for as long as I can remember... I use one at work all day, come home and use more, whether I am on here or looking at porn or playing games, a computer is always there.

Im glad im not the only one. Internet for me is the worst at night. Im slowly getting out the habit, but i can be up till 2 or 3am on the net LOOKING AT NOTHING! Like, why do I need to know how much money was spent on making "Apocalypse Now" or how long it took Stephen King to write his first book? I dont think ive ever had an addiction in my life, and here it is. I think i can honestly say I have mild internet addiction. For the last week ive meant to pay my rent and enrol for year two for Uni. Both i can do on the net ironically and i simply never get round to doing it. The internet creates/promotes procrastination which is a really bad thing. I personally think things like Facebook/MySpace/MSN should be banned in Uni Libraries or kind of normal library for that matter.
Sometimes the best thing to do is go cold turkey, pure and simple. I've seriously been debating to just give my ethernet cable to my mate for a week. I do need the net now though as i have an exam at the end of the week, but after that I seriously need a break. My worst vices are YouTube, a couple of forums (including this one) and Facebook. Its pathetic really.

Yep I do the SAME crap too. Especially with movies which is wierd, anytime I see a new flick I have to go read about the actors or how much of the story was true or just random useless bs that I'm just gonna forget tommorow.
And it is such a HUGE distraction having it in class too. If I have a computer in my class theres no point of me even being there cause I'm online the whole time. Even to the point where if people start talking to me I'm barely responsive to them.
Today I didn't have work so I spent maybe 2 hours doing chores, 90 mins workingout then literally every minute in between online just wasting time. I guess I could have worse things to deal with right now but I really think I'll be taking a leave of absence pretty soon.
And I cant believe you didnt register yet, I have till tommorow so I'm gonna go do that right now before everythings full.

Most of my time online has gone away, BUT before the baby I do admit it was like a full time job, rather it be video games, looking stuff up watching stuff on you tube. You are right though OP, I work at a grocery store and people (employees included) are either talking on there phone or texting, and I will come home and see updates from people at work on there facebook, so I comment them "you were at work!". So Pre baby, I spent anywhere from 8-10 hours a day online, now maybe 1-2 hours.. so Here is your answer....have a kid!!lol

Is there a story about this somewhere?
Some bitches are crazy man, don't fret. Just understand if it ever came down to it shes lower on the food chain then you, having a vagina and all.
Maybe keep a cam in your house just encase for evidence and what not. So you can prove when you beat her ass next time that it was self defense.

She's an X-roomy. I moved out cause she is all crazy and F'd up on booze and pills...
Here's a lil story. The last day I was in the house grabbing the remainder of my shit, she goes "Hey Dev, did you put that blue powder on the kitchen counter? It looks fresh! I don't remember crushing up that roxy..."
I go "Yeah that's me, a huge heroin junky, and it's not like I am on probation or anything..." stupid bitch.
Anyway, sorry just had to outline her intelligence.

This is prob fvcked up to say but I kinda feel bad for the girl now that you moved out.
Chances are as bad as you 2 got along you had to be some kind of postive influence, (prob the only + influence shes had) but ultimately a threat to her addiction.
Now that your not there she'll prob find another junkie friend to move in and wind up dead or in jail.
I saw my brother deal with a girl like that once and I personally wouldnt have the balls to do it but when he flushed her stash one day there was things flying accross the room for a good 15mins. We contemplated calling the cops on her but all a woman ever has to say is "he hit me" and your fvcked.
As long as you got out of there though I think thats the most important part.

Well yeah. I hear you on that one. I was so tempted to give her a lil smackaroony when she came at me w/ her claws out. It's just too draining to be that "positive influence". Mostly I just kept my mouth shut during that whole time... I couldn't sit back and watch her kill herself. Oh well...
