    1080i into 1080p?

Hey guys I have a Sony KDF-70XBR950, it's a 70 inch rear projection TV that is a few years old already. It is only capable of 1080i and not 1080p. This has never been a problem for me but I just bought a PS3 and I'm mainly going to use it for blu-ray movies. And from what I have heard I really need to get 1080p to enjoy the blu-ray to its max potential.

    Now my question is this...

Is there anyway I can keep the tv and somehow buy something that converts the 1080i into true 1080p, is that possible?

    I really don't think you'll notice a difference.

1080I (is 1080 interlace) 1080p (is 1080progressive scan) the difference is that a 1080I television actually takes the lines of resolution on your screen and fills in small amounts of it with what the processor shows it needs (kind of like the spot removal tool on photoshop! it uses the surrounding area to find what colors it needs to blend) 1080 Progressive scan actually has a full 1080 lines of resolution! To answer NO you can not but something to change it if it is a few years old 1080I is actually going to be a stretch and for Blue Ray HD and PS3 you are not going to get the full benefit anyway.. That TV you have probably has at best a 45hz or 60hz processor. to really enjoy the HD experience.. you need to have at least a 120hz true motion processor and on a 70" RP TV that is almost unheard of... This si what I do for a living.. I am an A/V Tech and I sell and install home theaters!
