in highschool our class held an auction with everything from pro sport tickets/autographed sports items to front row parking spots and electronics. We raised several thousand dollars and I went to a very small school. If you go around to businesses they will normally donate the items.

There are online companies that will set up discount card programs for you. They contact local businesses and arrange the discounts, print out the cards and then you can sell them. You can also make up donation jars and put them in local businesses. Try securing a busy intersection in your town, have some cheerleaders stand there an collect money from people. Much like the Firefighters do for the MDA.

Have a huge yard sale in the at the school auditorium.

Everyone has something they don't need, or use anymore.

You can run an ad in a local newspaper, which most of the time, will run the ad for free.Due to the fact that it is for a positive cause for a local school.

Kind of like a good will act on the news papers end.

It's amazing what people buy at such events.

It can generate alot of revenue for an event that supports a very good cause.

Do a date auction, have the guys get on stage (no girls that would be frowned upon) and have middle age women bid on them for a date on the town. All proceeds go to whatever cause your doing.
