I feel like I'm content, and I hate it!!!

I've always strived to do a lot, over come a lot and be better tomorrow, than I am today.

I've always looked down I guess, on people who are just "okay" with the life they have, that never want more.

But I'm finding myself in that position and I really hate it, it upsets me.

I'm trying to find a purpose, to do more, but I'm lacking that source for now. I've been like this for about 6 weeks.

I grew up really poor, was a bean pole growing up too, until I was about 19.

I just turned 29, and I don't really NEED to work that hard, I make enough that I can work a few days a week. I don't have debt, or even barley any bills. I have utilitiy bills and that's really it.

Cars/trucks are paid for, insurance for them is cheap, my primary house is almost paid off, and I'm just comfortable now, like I'm not as hungry as I use to be.

I'm even content with my size, I've never wanted to be a big monster, just a nice lean, muscular frame. 6', 210lbs, sub 10%bf, and all I ever wanted was a lean 200lbs.

I'm trying to find a way out of this, but I can't find the motivation, or the excitement to wake up a "get after it". I want more, but just not bad enough I guess.

Anyone ever go through things like this? Or even an inspiring story? Any motivational videos (not from you DSM!!! lol) or lectures?

This is more then just you, this is all humans, we are never truly happy, and we always want more. Its not about getting to a point its the journey there that we seek.

Reflect back when you were poor, all the hard times. Then pick a hobby or something else you want to strive for. When you get what you want start all over again when your content.

Im sure this won't last, life is hard and something will come up no matter what or how good things are going. There is no joy without pain.

Good luck you lucky basterd. You make me sick with your life. lol

You should get into pole dancing! Haha
If I was in your place I would start traveling a lot and explore new things in life.

You are in a paradox. You say you have everything yet you aren't content. Ergo you don't have everything because there is clearly something missing from your life.

Get a hobby. Climb a mountain or live in China for a year, something that reinvents yourself. Why don't you write about the last 15 years in your life?

Travelling is one of the greatest things a person can do. It will REALLY open your eyes to the world. Honestly, I cannot advocate seeing the world enough as Energiser Bunny will clarify.

I take vacations, have ever really moved to another country though.

I tend to not like vacations for more than a little anyway though.

I have just always felt I needed to be accomplishing something, more than relaxing. I've always really liked that, and accomplishing what it is, or working on what ever it maybe, always kept me happy and content.

I've actually been debating breaking up with my girl friend because I feel that might be part of my comfort also. But I'm 29, and can't be a single workaholic my whole life.

I'm just hoping this passes. I've thought about starting to peruse other business ventures to stimulate some of the process. I seem to like to start from the ground, but when I start to win....i loose interest.

I guess kind of like chasing a girl, it's fun, until a week after you land her, then there is nothing special....she's just another girl.

I've always been like this though, I've never kept the same hobbies very long. I always would have hobbies like other kids, I'm competitive, and so I'd compete against them, when I win, interest is lost. And I'd never quit until I won, or they quit.

hrm, ya, you bring up a valid point.

I think the biggest part is not really over coming a challenge, but that I'm content with my career, or where my company is and I don't have the desire to make it grow any further.

I man, what makes guys desire to keep growing even after they are financially set? And I'm not some filthy rich loaded guy, but I can support my life style and have everything setup so it was paid for with out financing or getting in debt.

I'm thinking of just trying to setup the company so it runs it's self, with out taking much of my time, and maybe starting a new one, doing something different.

I use to play games a lot as a younger adult. I'd play online RPGs a lot, or just RPGs on the game. I'd level up these characters, get to the highest level, then never even use them, I'd find a better template, or class of character and start over.

Funny I can describe my life through a video game

I'm not really sure what I'm doing.

I think I knew my purpose at one point, but maybe it is changing? and I have not found what it's changing too.

I'm sure it's just a hiccup. But I know some times people get like this, they get relaxed, and they loose a lot, or loose it all and have to overcome even bigger challenges next time.

Maybe I need to fail, I'm not sure.

Maybe I need to consult with Anthony Robbins

Probably just a phase. Don't worry about it, maybe think back to when you were younger and what goals/challenges you wanted to pursue back then? Its been said in this thread but so true. Humans are imaginative creatures, we sometimes overhype stuff in our mind then we get it and its like... yea big deal.

What interests do you have? Have you considered getting another degree? Maybe look into some online programs in something that interests you like exercise science or another area that interests you.

What about building a better community convincing the leaders of your community to start a green project or campaign... What about helping your fellow human beings in getting education, tutor somebody, raise awareness about peace, INCREASE THE PEACE in. You and those around u... Start a program that channels kids focus on doing drugs into working out,

There is much to be done sounds like u are one mate the world needs a lot to learn from
