Too much spyware & porn?

Just got my laptop back after 2 weeks of pure hell. Had to use the old ladies' pc or my netbook(that wouldn't allow me to log in to this site) and it was driving me nuts!!!
Anyway, picked up my computer and dude tells me he removed spyware and to stay off the porn sites and leave limewire alone. Limewire will destroy your computer he says. Anyone believe this?
I had a pc and never had a problem from limewire or anywhere else.

^^^^ I've had apc all my life and believe me, i abused the bitch. Mostly cause i could afford to go buy another one if i did something wrong.
But i'm missing your point. I had my own personal porn video store via limewire and not one single problem. Ever.
Maybe it's late and i'm just not understanding. Anyway, laptops suck. I want my pc back. We put up with this only because of convienience.

Yes any of those file share programs are BAD....
If you want porn you had better either use good spyware, virus blockers or be smart and get it from newsgroups instead of the internet.

Don't be lazy, keep the PC clean. Just because you have money doesn't mean you can afford to let the pc go. Do you log into your bank account on that PC ? pay bills ? If someone were to install a keylogger (via virus) they could end up helping you spending your savings.

Get a good anti-virus program and a spyware program. Your buddy was right, limewire sucks.

Limewire screwed up my laptop/virus, so I just stay away from it.

Limewire itself doesn't have any problems...it really is about the user getting suckered into downloading crap. If you know what you are looking for and the size of the files and such...your good. Also if you insist on using limewire...get a program called sandbox. It's free and allows you to open files in an isolated environment on your pc.

Totally agree, if you have decent protection you shouldn't have any problems. if your prone to your pc/laptop you should back it up so you can restore it to working condition
