    Chevy Help!

Just bought a 2004 Chevy Venture 3.0 v6. Now the problem is the check engine in the gauge is sometimes on and sometimes off... what do you think? It got only 50,000 kms in it.

There's no way to tell without first having your codes pulled.

i remember my mom used to have an venture and she ran into the same problem. they have diagnistic tools that can check the problem. maybe bring it to a dealership... but they would probably charge you seeing as how the van is not under warranty anymore

im a auto smog tech . you need to have the code read first . dont just go buy a sensor cause it mentions something about that sensor . the codes help the tech to give him an idea of a system being affected. pm me when u get that code pulled and ill see what i can do without having the vehicle on hand. or take it to a shop not a tire dealer shop , it doesnt have to be the dealer.

You need a code reader. Can you order one from Taiwan or someplace not far?

If you want to just clear the codes for now in case they are just bogus unhook the battery, positive and negative. Touch the positive and negative cable together (NOT to the battery) and this will/should clear any codes. Anything new that shows up means there probably is some sort of problem.

Just figured out the problem! whenever I switch on the headlight the check engine also switches on after a few minutes. If I turn off the headlights the the check engine also disappears after a few minutes... any opinions on how to solve this problem? preferably DIY. Thanks!
